Whispers of a Frozen-themed land have been circulating for years, and with Arendelle opening its gates in November, we can almost taste the first snowflake. Moving into the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, the immersive expansion invites Disney Guests to a Summer Snow Day celebration inspired by Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Frozen and Frozen 2.
In honor of the eternal winter’s end, Hong Kong Disneyland’s Kingdom of Arendelle will feature all-new shopping and dining experiences with diverse cuisines for Guests to sink their teeth into. Not to mention the Frozen-themed land features two themed attractions, including an animatronic upgrade in Hong Kong Disneyland’s version of EPCOT’s “Frozen Ever After.” Without further ado, let’s dive into all the happenings at Anna and Elsa’s newest playground.
Thrilling, Chilling Attractions
Stateside Disney Guests are no strangers to “Frozen Ever After” at the Norway Pavilion, but Hong Kong Disneyland’s iteration is taking “Anna”-matronics to a new level. While facial projections recreate Disney’s iconic princesses in Orlando, detailed animatronic features bring them to life in the new Frozen-themed land. A recent peek at the journey to North Mountain includes a capture of Sven and Olaf under an ice crystal tree, compliments of Elsa.
The second attraction and first-ever Frozen roller coaster, “Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs,” unveiled a first look into the ride’s queue. A winding coaster built by Wandering Oaken (and Walt Disney Imagineering) will whisk Guests around Arendelle Castle with some help from Olaf and Sven. According to Disney Parks Blog, this is what Guests can expect to see:
Before hopping on the coaster, you will spot Oaken in his Sauna and walk by a column he’s working on that is carved with Trolls.
Eats and Treats
Sleigh riding can work up an appetite, and Disney is finally letting Guests in on the dining services offered in Arendelle. Serving up diverse cuisine and named after the symbol of Arendelle, Golden Crocus Inn will be the hub for honorary Arendellians to congregate.
Guests can head to the Northern Delights shop for a sweet treat after the Golden Crocus Inn. Disney Parks Blog shared what Arendellians can anticipate at the sweet shop:
This one-of-a-kind sweets shop is home to a mouthwatering selection of candy and frozen treats. Named after none other than Arendelle’s famous Northern Lights, it’s also where Anna and Elsa order their favorite desserts! We’re ready to stuff our faces with CHOCOLATE!
Do You Want to Build a Snowman?
While Queen Elsa may not always be up for playtime, Guests can take over Anna and Elsa’s childhood Playhouse in Arendelle’s Forest. In what Disney Parks Blog calls an “interactive play experience,” the unique attraction will allow Guests to step inside the walls of their favorite Frozen home. Guests can expect an immersive experience at the Playhouse to commemorate the Summer Snow Day.
The playtime doesn’t stop there. Arendelle opens a quaint toy shop called Tick Tock Toys for Guests to explore. Operated by a wood carver and his wife, the all-new store offers collectibles, toys, and charming carvings of fan-favorite Frozen characters.
Finally, Disney fans have a comprehensive look at the most anticipated Frozen expansion for the first time in forever! Debuting ten years after the original Frozen film hit theaters this November, the Frozen-themed land will be one for the books.
