In the realm of political discourse, accusations often fly fast and furious, especially in the heated months leading up to an election. When a former President takes to social media to air grievances about public figures, the fallout is often swift and intense.
Recently, former President Donald Trump made headlines once again with a claim that has captured the attention of both the political world and the entertainment industry. While celebrities have long been involved in political endorsements, Trump’s latest post brings new layers to the discussion, especially as it involves high-profile names from the entertainment world.

In a Truth Social post that quickly went viral, Trump made a bold accusation, claiming that the Harris campaign had paid Beyoncé a whopping $11 million for her endorsement in the 2024 presidential race. He also accused other celebrities, including Oprah and Reverend Al Sharpton, of receiving large sums of money for their support.
Trump went as far as to demand that the individuals involved in these payments be prosecuted for breaking the law.
“I’m looking at the large amount of money owed by the Democrats, after the Presidential Election, and the fact that they admit to paying, probably illegally, Eleven Million Dollars to singer Beyoncé for an ENDORSEMENT (she never sang, not one note, and left the stage to a booing and angry audience!), Three Million Dollars for ‘expenses,’ to Oprah, Six Hundred Thousand Dollars to very low rated TV ‘anchor,’ Al Sharpton (a total lightweight!), and others to be named for doing, absolutely NOTHING! These ridiculous fees were incorrectly stated in the books and records. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PAY FOR AN ENDORSEMENT. IT IS TOTALLY ILLEGAL TO DO SO. Can you imagine what would happen if politicians started paying for people to endorse them. All hell would break out! Kamala, and all of those that received Endorsement money, BROKE THE LAW. They should all be prosecuted! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

While Trump’s claims are dramatic, they do not reflect the reality of the situation. In fact, the claims about Beyoncé’s $11 million payment were quickly debunked.
According to campaign finance records viewed by CNN, Beyoncé was paid a significantly lower amount—$165,000—for her appearance at a rally in Houston. This payment was made in accordance with campaign finance law, which requires campaigns to reimburse performers like Beyoncé for ancillary costs such as staging, travel, and other event-related expenses. There was no illegal payment for an endorsement, contrary to Trump’s accusations.

The Federal Election Commission (FEC) further clarified that payments like the one made to Beyoncé are standard practice for campaign events, as long as the payment represents the fair market value for services rendered. These payments are treated as in-kind contributions, which are subject to contribution limits and regulatory oversight. In this case, the payment for Beyoncé’s performance was fully compliant with FEC rules and regulations.
Beyoncé has not commented on the false claims made by Mr. Trump.
What do you think? Should celebrities fight back against false accusations in the courts, or is it better to let the truth settle the matter over time?
