Donald Trump Takes Aim at ‘The View,’ Warns Show’s Future Could Be in Jeopardy

Since its debut in 1997, The View has sparked its fair share of controversy. Known for its diverse panel of hosts, the show has become a platform where bold political statements are made, and clashes between co-hosts are a regular occurrence.

This has drawn both passionate support and fierce criticism, especially from high-profile figures. Among the most vocal critics of the show in recent years is former President Donald Trump, whose ongoing feud with the co-hosts of The View continues to capture media attention.

The contentious relationship between Trump and The View’s hosts has been a topic of discussion for years, but it has reached new heights following the latest round of remarks exchanged. While The View has always been a space for outspoken opinions, it is clear that Trump is not backing down from his critiques.

Now, his latest comments about the show have sent shockwaves through the media landscape, drawing renewed attention to the heated political and personal tensions between the former president and the daytime talk show.

The View has always been a platform for strong opinions and lively debates. With co-hosts from a variety of political backgrounds, the show often finds itself at the center of controversy, with some voices being louder than others.

In particular, Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar have made no secret of their disdain for Donald Trump, especially during his time in office. While Goldberg and Behar have often been the most vocal critics, even conservative co-hosts like Ana Navarro and Alyssa Farah Griffin have not hesitated to offer their own critiques of the former president. This longstanding conflict between Trump and The View hosts has only intensified in recent weeks.

The Latest Clash

The most recent incident began on July 22, 2025, when Trump made a jaw-dropping claim that former President Barack Obama had “tried to lead a coup” and accused him of committing treason. This explosive statement immediately caught the attention of the media, with The View hosts not wasting any time in responding. As expected, Joy Behar was among the first to offer her thoughts.

In her usual outspoken fashion, Behar took direct aim at Trump’s comments. She expressed her belief that Trump was consumed with jealousy toward Obama, highlighting how Obama appeared to possess traits that Trump seemingly lacked.

“The thing about him is he's so jealous of Obama, because Obama is everything that he is not: Trim, smart, handsome, happily married, and can sing Al Green's song ‘Let's Stay Together' better than Al Green. And Trump cannot stand it. It's driving him crazy.”

Behar didn’t stop there. She went on to directly challenge Trump’s allegations about Obama’s actions, stating, “First of all, who tried to overthrow the government on Jan. 6? Who was that again? That was not Obama.”

Trump Fires Back

As expected, Trump responded angrily to Behar’s remarks. His spokesperson issued a fiery statement that went beyond just calling out Behar’s comments.

“Joy Behar is an irrelevant loser suffering from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome,” and claimed that the show has “hit the lowest ratings” in recent years.

The statement continued, adding that Behar “should self-reflect on her jealousy of President Trump’s historic popularity before her show is the next to be pulled off air.”

Brendan Carr, the head of the Federal Communications Commission, also issued a warning to the popular morning show, saying:

“Look, it’s entirely possible that there’s issues over there. And stepping back, this broader dynamic, once President Trump has exposed these media gatekeepers and smashed this facade, there’s a lot of consequences. I think the consequences of that aren’t quite finished.”

Ratings at the Center of the Debate

Despite Trump’s claims that The View was facing a decline in viewership, the show’s ratings tell a different story. A spokesperson for The View quickly responded to Trump’s criticism, pointing out that the show was experiencing a significant surge in popularity.

When reached for comment, a View spokesperson did not address Rogers' statement, but did respond to claims about the show's ratings, pointing to figures noting that The View “is up in total viewers and women 18-49, versus the comparable weeks last season, to its most-watched in four years” and  “season to date, The View is ranking No. 1 in households and total viewers among all network daytime talk shows and news programs for the fifth straight season.”

A Longstanding Feud

The feud between Trump and The View is far from new. Over the years, Trump has engaged in multiple public spats with members of the media, and The View has been one of the central battlegrounds in this ongoing war. From criticisms about the show’s political bias to personal attacks on the hosts, Trump has frequently taken aim at The View, with each new clash adding fuel to the fire.

One of the most significant incidents in this feud occurred when Trump filed a defamation lawsuit against ABC and Good Morning America host George Stephanopoulos. The lawsuit stemmed from an incident in which Stephanopoulos referred to Trump as “found liable for rape,” when in fact Trump had been found liable for sexual assault.

Ultimately, the case was settled when Disney, ABC’s parent company, agreed to pay Trump $16 million. This legal victory only deepened the animosity between Trump and the network, and it seems that the tensions between him and the hosts of The View are unlikely to dissipate anytime soon.

In another notable example, Trump took issue with the firing of veteran ABC journalist Terry Moran, who was let go after sending out a tweet in which he called Trump and his deputy chief of staff, Stephen Miller, “world-class haters.” Moran stood by his comments, calling them “accurate and true,” but his firing added yet another layer to the ongoing conflict between Trump and ABC.

  1. I thought Trump was being President of the United States, so where does he get the time to watch morning television? The man is a liar from head to toe and lied to the American public about not cutting Medicare, Medicaid and not making overtures to privatize Social Security that is in Project 2025. With tens of thousands of people who have lost their jobs because the government wanted to save money, so how in the hell is there over $100 million dollars for him to play golf (first term and now). I don’t think this man has ever read a book and I would bet the farm that he couldn’t pick Ukraine out on a world map. In regards to his association with Jeffrey Epstein, any man with any character would have not associated with someone like Epstein but he paled around with this pedophile for years. Trump has bragged that he used to go backstage at beauty contests while young girls were in a state of undress but he was within his right because he ran the pageant. He may be a billionaire but in realty he is a lowlife. Now, we hear that he wants to change the name of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts to the Donald Trump Center of the Arts. He boasts that he is a patron of the arts and that is on;y because of his wealth, I doubt that he could name any opera by Mozart. I would like to add that Trump always brags about how he was a good student when he was at Wharton, then if he was so brilliant, then why are all his grades sealed? How much did Fred Trump give to Wharton to seal Trump’s grades? And what is funny is that no former classmate of Trump had ever seen him on campus. Trump’s idea for the future is to look into the past, we’ve all heard, drill, drill, drill. How long does he think that we’ll be able to drill for fossil fuels? Theoretical physicists were predicting that our planet would be a Class 1 Civilization in about 200 years before Trump came into office (right now we are a .073) based on our use of energy, but now with Trump’s archaic ideas, it will be a thousand years. NASA has had its budget cut by 24% and with cuts like that, Trump is throwing in the towel on financing our getting to the Moon and Mars before China. If China gets back to the Moon before we do and if they set up a settlement on Mars before NASA and Musk, do you have any idea on how that is going to affect the geo-political structure around the world? We may never recover. I would like to see this administration do something about stopping tornadoes, this way, FEMA won’t have to shell out billions of dollars and countless people wouldn’t die needlessly. Tornadoes are formed by cold air mixing with warm air. If satellites could sense when a tornado was about to form, it could send a laser blast in to the funnel that is trying to form and warm up the cold air. Warm air mixed with warm air doesn’t form a tornado. If we have the technology to build a ‘Golden Dome’, then we have the technology for satellites to stop tornadoes from forming. I want the administration to understand that if your popular vote was under 50%, then you don’t have a mandate on anything.
