‘The View’ Stars Reportedly Clash With Bob Iger Over Donald Trump Remarks

For nearly thirty years, ABC's daytime talk show The View has thrived on its boldness. Viewers tune in not only for the latest headlines but also for the fiery, candid conversations sparked by a diverse group of cohosts unafraid to speak their minds. From viral pop culture moments to polarizing political debates, the panel has built its legacy on passionate perspectives.

But as television and politics continue to collide, even the most outspoken daytime programs can find themselves in uncertain territory. For fans who’ve grown to rely on The View’s unfiltered take on current events, recent developments hint at a subtle but significant shift in direction—one that may not be coming from the hosts themselves.

A new report from The Daily Beast suggests that high-level ABC and Disney executives may be pressuring the women of The View to pull back on one of their most talked-about topics: former President Donald Trump.

The report claims that ABC News President Almin Karamehmedovic convened a meeting with The View’s executive producer Brian Teta and its cohosts. The purpose of the meeting was to address concerns about the show’s frequent political focus.

Karamehmedovic convened a meeting with The View‘s executive producer Brian Teta and its hosts, and suggested the panel needed to broaden its conversations beyond its predominant focus on politics, two sources familiar with the meeting said. Karamehmedovic highlighted episodes with celebrity guests that he said were highly rated, one source said, and encouraged them to lean into such coverage moving forward.

The women reportedly didn’t take the suggestion lightly. The View’s panel—currently made up of Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, and Alyssa Farah Griffin—has often split along ideological lines, but all have become increasingly critical of Trump in recent years.

Some, like Navarro, Behar, and Goldberg, are especially outspoken, while others express concern with equal conviction. The panel reportedly responded to the network’s request with strong resistance.

The move was not framed as an edict, one source said, but the suggestion alone rankled the hosts. The group pushed back forcefully, with hosts like Navarro noting the show’s audience routinely seeks out its perspective on politics, especially when the administration’s radical attempts to upend the government can potentially affect their daily lives.

The conversation didn’t end there. During Disney’s recent Upfront presentation—a high-profile media event designed to attract advertisers—Ana Navarro reportedly thanked Disney CEO Bob Iger for supporting The View through difficult political moments. That’s when Iger allegedly doubled down on the earlier message, reiterating that the cohosts should consider toning down their most pointed Trump commentary.

No official comment has been released by Disney or ABC, but the implications of these reported discussions are being felt across social media and entertainment circles. For many fans, the strength of The View lies in its ability to speak freely, especially during politically charged times. A perceived effort to muffle that voice has raised concerns about editorial independence and the role of network influence.

It’s no secret that Trump and Disney have had a strained relationship. The former president has repeatedly called out ABC and its parent company, often accusing them of biased coverage. In one case, Trump sued Disney and reportedly received a $15 settlement, which he claimed would be donated to his presidential library. While some speculate that network executives may be trying to avoid fresh controversy heading into another election cycle, others worry that such decisions signal a retreat from the show’s founding principles.

Despite the behind-the-scenes tension, The View remains a daytime ratings powerhouse. In the first quarter of 2025, it ranked number one among daytime talk shows, suggesting that audiences remain deeply invested in what the cohosts have to say—regardless of how controversial their opinions may be.

Should Disney and ABC play a role in guiding the show’s content, or should The View remain fully in control of its voice? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

  1. Pretty darn sad when government is controlling the media. I never thought they would bend a knee to him like this. Makes me not like Disney much anymore. This country lives with free speech and no one person should control that. Especially one that has no idea what he is talking about. Just a control freak. Buck up.
