Another day, another interesting topic on ABC’s hit daytime talk show, The View.
For those who may be unfamiliar with the show, The View features notable women talking about hot topics, including politics, entertainment, and viral stories. The View currently features actress Whoopi Goldberg, comedian Joy Behar, political strategist Alyssa Farah Griffin, political strategist Ana Navarro, journalist Sara Haines, and lawyer Sunny Hostin.

Recently, the women were participating in their “Hot Topics” segment, where they discuss hot stories of the day. During this segment, the new Max show, Naked Attraction — a nude dating show — was brought up.
Hostin admitted that she and her husband binge-watched the entire first season. She said that she had learned a lot while watching the show, including that gay people can smell each other out.
She went on to bring up “research” that “found that gay men have different scent attraction” and that “homosexual people have a nose for each other.” She further elaborated, saying that gay people “can actually smell under their arms and, in a blindfold test, can tell which person is gay and which person isn’t.”
Many were stunned by what Hostin had to say. However, there is some credence to what she said.
In 2005, a study was published, stating the gay men were more likely to be able to identify other gay men through their scent. The study was published in Psychological Science. The study took 24 samples of underarm sweat from people of “varied gender and sexual orientation.” Then 82 heterosexual and homosexual men and women were asked to smell the samples and say which ones they preferred the most.
The study’s results were very interesting:
Homosexual men and lesbian women showed preferences that were not those of heterosexual people of either sex. Gay men preferred the scent of gay men and heterosexual women. But the scent of gay men was the least preferred by heterosexual men and women and by lesbian women. “Our findings support the contention that gender preference has a biological component that is reflected in both the production of different body odours and in the perception of and response to body odours,” says Charles Wysocki, of the Monell Chemical Senses Centre.
The nudity topic continued as the other hosts processed what Hostin had to say.
The View‘s Past Startling Comments
Typically, when there is an issue about something said on The View, it tends to revolve around multi-award-winning actress and cohost Whoopi Goldberg.
In early 2022, Goldberg made inappropriate comments about the Holocaust and the six million Jews killed. She said that the Holocaust was not about race, but was about “man’s inhumanity to man.” Goldberg later apologized for her comments, saying that she did not realize that Jewish people were considered a race of people. She was suspended for her comments.

Then, just one year later, Goldberg again made comments some found inappropriate. Goldberg used the term “gypped.” She later released a video apology, saying that she did not know that the term originated from the racist belief that the Roma people (formerly called “gypsies”) were thieves. Even though some were offended, there were also many who shared that they didn’t know where the term came from either.
Most recently, Goldberg stunned her cohosts and the audience when she interrupted her own train of thought to ask cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin if she was pregnant. Griffin laughed off the comment and later said that her husband used Goldberg’s comment to actively start trying to expand their family.
