Disney vs. DeSantis is in the news again, but not for what you might think!
The feud between the Walt Disney Company and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has been one of the most documented battles we’ve seen recently. What started as a disagreement about the “Don’t Say Gay” law has escalated into much more, leading to both parties sitting in court having filed lawsuits against each other. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has even moved to try and dismiss the suit.
But the most recent news of Disney vs. DeSantis has very little to do with either party; rather, it’s to do with one Senator Tim Scott, senator from the Republican party in South Carolina.
Senator Scott was booed when he commented on Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s fight with the Walt Disney Company, saying, “Disney and Ron have been in a combat zone over what I thought is the right issue, which is our young kids and what they are being indoctrinated with.”
On this remark, the audience broke into widespread jeers.

Host of The View, Whoopi Goldberg, immediately rose to the occasion, shouting at the crowd, “No, no, no, not here.” She then apologized to Senator Scott. “I’m sorry, sir.”
“Do not boo; this is ‘The View,’” Goldberg said, turning to the crowd. “We accept, we don’t have to believe everything people say, but you cannot boo people here, please.”
Senator Scott appeared on The View when he was criticized for standing up against Republican policies that hurt people of color.
The South Carolina senator said he went on the program because of panelists’ past comments “that the only way for a young African American kid to be successful in this country is to be the exception and not the rule … That’s a dangerous offensive disgusting message to send,” he argued.

In the end, even though the debate turned out to be more chaotic than one might have assumed, it was an opportunity that Republican Sen. Tim Scott appreciated. He later shared on Twitter, “Had a constructive conversation with the ladies on The View, even the producers can’t stop me. The principles of our conservative message prevail everywhere.”
