If you’re a huge fan of Luisa Madrigal (the strong sister in the Madrigal family from Encanto) and you want to see the actress who played her, you’re in luck! Jessica Darrow, the actress who voiced Luisa and performed her signature song, is coming to MegaCon Orlando in May.

The actress and singer became a fan favorite since being ‘discovered’ by many people who watched Encanto, particularly after she quietly posted a video on Youtube featuring her own unique jazz cover of Luisa’s song “Surface Pressure”.
Jessica’s distinct husky alto voice has endeared her to fans, who loved hearing an alto performer in a Disney movie when so many Disney princesses or heroines are sopranos who sing high notes, and Disney fans also loved her character Luisa (even though Disney executives originally weren’t so sure)!

The film soundtrack version of the song has consistently done well on the Billboard charts (even though it’s been overshadowed by “We Don’t Talk About Bruno”), but Jessica’s homemade jazz cover has also been popular among fans of Luisa Madrigal and it now has over 40 thousand views! The iconic hobbit quartet from The Lord of the Rings films (Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd, and Dominic Monaghan) will also be making an appearance, as will actors Martin Kove and William Zabka from Cobra Kai.
Aside from celebrity guests, convention attendees and fans can also enjoy events like workshops, panels, and cosplay contests. There will also be plenty of merchandise! The convention will be held between May 19 and 22 at the Orange County Convention Center, and you can find tickets at megaconorlando.com.
