After five months of discreet renovations, the updates to the Italy World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT are complete.

In February, guests visiting the EPCOT World Showcase were met with temporary construction walls surrounding the Italy Pavilion’s iconic bell tower. As the refurbishment project began, scaffolding covered in camouflaged scrims created the illusion of brickwork for passersby. The structure, a replica of St. Mark’s Campanile in Venice, remained covered for several months while crews worked diligently to preserve its historic design.

By mid-July, noticeable progress had been made. Much of the scaffolding and scrim had been removed from the upper parts of the tower, revealing some of the completed work. The brickwork and stone carvings appeared largely untouched, confirming that the refurbishment focused on routine maintenance and repainting. As crews continued their work, construction walls remained around the base of the tower.
According to WDWNT, the construction walls have now been removed, and the refurbishment project is complete. Guests are unable to access the building’s interior, which has never been open to the public.

Like other EPCOT areas, the Italy World Showcase Pavilion features several buildings inspired by real European locations. The refurbished bell tower is a smaller, 83-foot-tall version of St. Mark’s Campanile, which stands over 320 feet tall. It features similar brickwork and ornate stone carvings.
As is often the case with maintenance projects around Walt Disney World Resort, no official statement has been issued regarding the Italy World Showcase Pavilion refurbishment at EPCOT. Disney parks rarely comment on similar updates unless they significantly impact guests’ experiences, such as ride closures.
