As Universal Orlando’s Epic Universe theme park approaches its long-awaited grand opening in May 2025, excitement among fans and industry insiders alike is building to a fever pitch. With groundbreaking attractions and a fresh slate of experiences, this new addition to Universal’s lineup promises to elevate the Orlando resort to new heights.

Recently, an “influencer” has come under fire for violating strict filming rules during a preview event for the new park. Universal has been allowing select team members and invited guests access to preview parts of the park ahead of its public debut.

During these preview events, strict rules have been enforced to prevent any unauthorized filming. The intention is to keep major design elements and attractions under wraps until the official opening.

Unfortunately, the “influencer” blatantly ignored these rules and shared video footage from inside the park, leading to a wave of criticism from fans and park enthusiasts alike.

The “influencer” in question, known for their social media presence under the name “Disneyworld Vacationer,” filmed a restricted area of the park, capturing footage of an entrance to one of the themed lands in Epic Universe. This is a significant violation, as Universal had clearly outlined its rules prohibiting any photos or videos during the previews.

Not only did the influencer ignore these guidelines, but the footage also included a sign in the background warning that filming was not allowed. The disregard for these regulations has sparked outrage, with many calling out both the influencer and the team member who facilitated the breach.

On March 22, 2025, Shawn In Orlando, a popular Twitter account known for its coverage of theme park news, tweeted an image from the video.

SOMEBODY IS ABOUT TO GET FIRED

The tweet quickly gained traction, amplifying the controversy and drawing attention to the breach. Many in the theme park community voiced their disappointment over the situation, pointing out that not only was the influencer at fault, but the Universal staff member who allowed them to bypass the rules should also be held accountable.

This situation has left many wondering how Universal will respond to the breach and what consequences will be faced by those involved.

Despite the backlash, the influencer has refused to remove the video from their social media accounts. The footage was also uploaded to their YouTube channel, further fueling the online debate.

Many fans have expressed frustration at how easily influencers seem to be bending the rules for the sake of content, and the incident has only intensified the conversation about how Universal should handle such breaches in the future.

“They knew the rules and still decided to break them just to get views,” one comment read, encapsulating the sentiment shared by many who feel the influencer’s actions were a blatant disregard for Universal’s trust.

In response, Universal has yet to make a public statement about the incident. However, the situation has prompted the company to send a reminder to its employees about the importance of respecting the NDA (non-disclosure agreement) when attending these exclusive previews.

While the email did not directly address influencers, many interpreted the communication as a reaction to the growing problem of content creators disregarding the filming rules.

As the park nears its grand opening, Universal will likely face additional challenges in keeping the secrecy of its attractions intact. With the rise of influencers and vloggers, who have become increasingly influential in shaping public perceptions of theme parks, Universal will need to strike a delicate balance between offering sneak peeks and protecting the integrity of the park’s big reveal.

It remains to be seen whether Universal will adopt stricter policies or take a more proactive approach in dealing with future violations.

What do you think Universal should do about influencers who break filming rules? Should they face serious consequences, or is it just a part of the game? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

  1. Gee, who’s to blame????? The easiest way to avoid incidents like this is to stop inviting these 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡 to events! Plain and simple! Or take their phones and recording devices away, prior to letting them enter! Studios do it all the time, when they invite people to screenings. Disneyland makes cast members sign what amounts to Non-disclosure forms during after hours backstage cast member events.

  2. I may be late commenting, but if Universal ever did TM Previews for any new project in the future, my solution would be: don’t invite ANYONE else to TM Previews, until media gets invited! Period! Full stop! These early previews will be EXCLUSIVELY for Team Members ONLY – NO ONE else!

I hope an attorney would give some advice and make a PSA about respecting NDAs.
