Critics Call Out Disney Influencer Over Hurricane “Vacation Ruined” Post

The recent actions of a controversial Disney influencer came under scrutiny this week as she faced backlash for posting videos about her Walt Disney World Resort vacation amidst the impending threat of Hurricane Milton.

The influencer was previously accused of exaggerating a situation at Disneyland Resort. In 2022, she claimed she was “targeted” by security cast members when they asked her to change out of a ball gown. The influencer alleged she’d worn a similar dress to Walt Disney World Resort and wasn’t asked to change.

As Hurricane Milton approached, expected to hit Florida’s Gulf Coast with potentially devastating winds, the influencer continued to share her experiences from the Central Florida Disney parks. This clip shows her family riding an empty The Magic Carpets of Aladdin ride with Disney cast members:

The Offensive Content of the Viral Video

Among the most criticized content was a video showcasing her children riding the baggage belt at Orlando International Airport, captioned humorously that the trip was “ruined by a hurricane” and “this is the only ride they get.” The post went viral for all the wrong reasons.

Responses flooded in on social media platforms, with users condemning her insensitivity and accusing her of trivializing the life-threatening implications of Hurricane Milton. Comments ranged from pointing out that “at least you get to go home” to expressing that “some people will be losing theirs.”

The contrast was stark; just days before, she had posted videos of her children joyfully experiencing attractions at Walt Disney World Resort, creating a jarring dissonance in portrayals of her family’s vacation.

Divided Opinions from Followers

The backlash was complicated by a mixed reaction from her followers. Some defended her, arguing that it was reasonable for anyone, including parents, to express disappointment when plans are disrupted, regardless of the circumstances surrounding them.

“You can be upset/sad about multiple things,” one user wrote. “This is valid.”

“As someone who is evacuating, I find it funny,” said another. “Hopefully you guys can come back when it’s better.”

Conversely, critics emphasized the insensitivity of sharing such content during a crisis. As communities braced for the fallout of Hurricane Milton, with many residents making evacuations or preparations for potential damage, the influencer’s lighthearted portrayal was perceived as dismissive of those hardships.

“Did you get to go home to your house still standing?” someone asked.

“Thoughts and prayers for you during this OBVIOUSLY difficult time..” another sarcastically replied.

  1. Influencer? LOL Get a real job. And someone got killed recently om a luggage conveyor in an airport.

  2. She says that she goes to Disney park 3 – 4 times. Does she ever check the weather? Most people plan their vacations by NOT going to Disney during hurricane season knowing full well that there will be restrictions. Sounds to me like a spoiled brat and also very inconsiderate towards people who are bracing for the storm and hoping and praying that their homes will still be there.

  3. “Influencers” are a plague on society. The fact that someone gets paid to post vapid videos of themselves is appalling. As is her behavior. As many have said, there are people (LOTS of them) who will lose everything. People who will lose their lives (and not because they did anything to deserve it). And she’s whining about one out of her multiple visits being “ruined” by a devastating hurricane. Maybe don’t visit during hurricane season?
And she should have been fined heavily for allowing her children to ride the baggage conveyor. Not only does that risk damage to the machine, but it’s seriously dangerous. Her brats are going to be as insufferable as she is.
