Epic Universe Sky Explodes With Fireworks as Universal Prepares Launch

Epic Universe's newest attraction isn't a ride, a roller coaster, or even a new themed land.

It's a fireworks show.

And judging by recent testing, some guests are already experiencing it ahead of schedule.

Visitors staying near Epic Universe recently reported seeing and hearing fireworks testing connected to Universal Celestial Goodnight, the park's upcoming nighttime spectacular. Social media footage showed bursts of fireworks lighting up the night sky near Universal Helios Grand Hotel as Universal continues rehearsals before the show's official debut.

For a few guests, the testing may have arrived a little earlier than expected.

Theme parks routinely conduct overnight and early-morning testing before launching major entertainment offerings, especially when fireworks are involved. Still, being awakened by booming pyrotechnics isn't exactly listed among the amenities of a typical hotel stay.

The activity is all tied to Universal Celestial Goodnight, a new nighttime spectacular scheduled to debut July 7 at Epic Universe.

The show represents one of the most significant additions to the park since its grand opening. Although Epic Universe immediately became one of the most talked-about theme parks in the world after opening in May 2025, many guests felt something was missing from the end of the day.

The park featured incredible attractions and immersive environments, but it lacked a dedicated nighttime finale capable of bringing together the stories of its different lands.

Universal Celestial Goodnight aims to change that.

The company has announced that the production will feature a combination of music, fountains, special lighting effects, and fireworks. Guests will gather in Celestial Park as the show celebrates the various worlds that make up Epic Universe.

Universal has also shared impressive details about the technology powering the production. Hundreds of fountains and lighting fixtures will operate in sync throughout the show, while millions of LED lights help transform Celestial Park into a nighttime stage.

It's the type of entertainment offering many fans expected from the beginning.

Before Epic Universe even opened, concept artwork frequently depicted fireworks over the park. As construction progressed, guests noticed infrastructure that appeared designed specifically for a future nighttime spectacular. Over time, evidence continued to build that Universal planned to add a fireworks production sooner rather than later.

Now that vision is becoming reality.

The recent testing demonstrates that Universal is entering the final phase before opening night. Teams are fine-tuning timing, effects, safety procedures, and show elements to ensure everything works properly once thousands of guests begin watching every evening.

For those who happened to be sleeping nearby, that preparation may have come with a few unexpected interruptions.

But for Epic Universe fans, the testing signals something far more exciting. The park's long-awaited nighttime finale is almost here, and Universal appears determined to make sure it's worth staying until closing time to experience.
