Is trouble brewing in Disney’s empire? One ESPN employee absolutely slammed Disney World as “brainless entertainment,” panning the Disney vacation spot.
The Disney Parks are undoubtedly places of magic and wonder—the Walt Disney World Resort is called “The Most Magical Place on Earth,” and the Disneyland Resort is called “The Happiest Place on Earth” for a real reason. Guests from all over the world flock to the Disney Parks to get their chance to live the Disney experience. With attractions like Haunted Mansion and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, it makes perfect sense why. However, there are always those Guests who believe that a Walt Disney World vacation is not worth it.

Chris Russo considers Disney World a “no-brainer”… literally. The radio personality recently shared his disdain for the Disney Resort, stating in no uncertain terms that it was not worth the investment.
“I never did like Disney,” Russo said. “And remember, I went to school in Florida, so if anybody knows Disney World, it’s me. I went, when I went to visit it in 1977, I went.”
“It never did anything for me,” Russo added of Disney World. “And I can’t think of more brainless entertainment, and I mean brainless, to take your kids around a bunch of rides, eating garbage food, and seeing Miss Princess at Disney World. I have never seen the fascination with it.”

Russo didn’t just pan the Disney vacation, he also took a shot at Disney Guests. “Everybody you see down there is 900 pounds,” Russo added. “That’s not America’s vacation.”
When asked what Russo preferred instead, his answer was something more “educational.”
“Take ‘em somewhere educational,” Russo said. “Take them down to Williamsburg, Virginia. Take them to Charlottesville to learn about Jefferson…Take them up to Nathaniel Hall up there in Boston. The Sam Adams Trail. Give them a little something. Give them a little education. Make them a little smarter than they are.”
Readers should note that while the sentiment is worthwhile, Russo misnamed Boston’s Faneuil Hall as “Nathaniel Hall,” an innocent enough mistake but badly timed considering the sentiments he was expressing.
While many are well within their rights to dislike Disney World (as is Russo), considering Disney owns ESPN, this rant was perhaps a little out of place and inappropriate, and maybe the right course of action was simply to have sidestepped the question gracefully.
