Once again, a parental faux pas has been caught by a passerby’s camera and shared to social media to fuel more fury over the state of Disney Park Guest behavior.
Uploaded to a subreddit appropriately called “mildly infuriating,” we see a Disney Dad holding his kid up to look at something, but the kid appears to be balancing on a public drinking fountain.

The kid is clearly positioned on the drinking fountain for some reason, but his shoes do not appear to be on top of the nozzle.
Like every other beverage option at Disneyland or any Disney Park, bottled water is expensive, and while more and more filling stations for reusable bottles continue to pop up, the old-school water fountains remain in operation.
Some fans jumped on this dad immediately jumped on this parent for what he did, with several comments already being deleted. One person said, “I would have told him off.”

Others, however, defended the dad, with one person saying, “Do people still use public water fountains? I really can’t remember seeing someone use one since I was in elementary school 30 yrs ago.”
Another person replied to this comment, saying, “I sure as hell wouldn’t use one these days with as nasty as people are. Just seems like asking to get a disease or someone rubbing something disgusting on the spout just because. We can’t have nice things anymore.”

This is probably not the first of such incidents of bad behavior that would have arguably gone widely unnoticed in a Disney Theme Park if not for the onset of social media. As the use of smartphones and social media continues to increase, so too does the concern that eyes are indeed everywhere, and putting even more pressure on parents to perform perfectly in public.
