Fantasmic Returning to Both Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland in 2022

During this year’s Destination D23 event at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Josh D’Amaro announced some big news for fans of live entertainment at Disney Parks: Fantasmic, at both Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios will return with performances for Guests in 2022!

Fantasmic

Performances of Fantasmic in both parks have not run since the closure of the Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. While both resorts have since had their reopenings well underway, a number of live shows have yet to return, with Fantasmic being one of the shows that fans have been missing the most.

D’Amaro’s announcement that Fantasmic will return in 2022 was just that, the show will return (which is very exciting for fans of the show and first-time Guests looking for additional nighttime entertainment.)

At this time, we do not have additional information on dining packages and the impact of Genie+/Lightning Lane on Fantasmic. Prior to the closure of Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2020, Guests had the option of purchasing a dining package with a meal at select restaurants in the park to include special seating areas roped off for Fantasmic.

Additionally, while FastPass+ was running, Guests could opt to use a FastPass on Fantasmic which would give them earlier entry into the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater to get their seat for showings of Fantasmic. (It should be noted that FastPass and not Genie+ and Lightning Lane do not necessarily get Guests into earlier showings, but rather it gets them into theaters ahead of the standby line.)

We do not have any further details on reopening dates at this time, but will update you here on Disney Fanatic as we know more about Fantasmic returning to both resorts and when we know more about dining packages and Disney Genie+.
