Here are seven questions the internet is dying to find answers to when it comes to Disney World.

How Big is Walt Disney World?

When it comes to the enchanting world of Disney Parks, particularly the renowned Disney World, it’s natural for fans to be brimming with questions that delve into the very essence of this iconic Resort. The burning curiosity often begins with a basic inquiry about the size of this magical Disney theme park. So, just how big is Disney World?

The answer to this question unveils the expanse of Walt Disney World, and showcases its immense size that sets it apart from its predecessor and its older counterpart nestled in Southern California. With a striking total of 43 square miles to its name, which equates to a staggering 27,520 acres, Disney World stands as a true behemoth in the realm of theme parks.

Comparing this colossal size to its sibling, which modestly spans only 500 acres, further emphasizes the sheer magnitude of Walt Disney World’s domain.

Considering how much Disney World prices have gone up in the last few years, it’s no surprise that fans and would-be guests are incredibly interested in how expensive it is to actually go to the Central Florida Disney Resort.

So, how much does a ticket to Disney World cost?

Why Does Disney World Take Your Fingerprint?

Many guests are quite curious about the biometric feature present in the Central Florida Disney Resort. When guests arrive at the theme park, they scan a finger and their MagicBand, MagicBand+, Disney MagicMobile Pass, or physical key card. The reason for this is primarily to ensure identity.

Called a “Ticket Tag” the biometric feature is “designed to ensure that another Guest isn’t using your tickets as well as streamline your subsequent theme park entries.”

Why Does Disney World Buy Explosives?

The word “explosives” could freak out fans and guests, but rest assured, this question is a lot more innocent than it seems. One surprising fact that many don’t know about Disney is that it is the second-largest purchaser of explosives in the world after the United States military—or, rather, the Department of Defense.

Whereas the explosives used by the Department of Defense are more militaristic in nature, as evident by the buyer, the ones that Disney buys are far more family-friendly. The Walt Disney Company is the second-largest buyer in the world of explosives, yes, but Disney’s explosives are fireworks.

Now, when it comes to fireworks alone, Disney is also the world’s largest purchaser of fireworks altogether, shipping them from China every year.

Why Does Disney World Require Reservations?

This feels like an age-old question at this point, with so many guests expressing frustration with the theme park reservation system introduced in the COVID-19 era. As much as fans hated the system, it did serve a purpose.

As Chron explained, “Simply put, making a park reservation at Disney World lets the resort know in advance who is planning to visit a specific theme park on a specific day.” Theoretically, it allowed the company to regulate and keep under control the number of guests who were in the park at a time.

Of course, the parks were still overcrowded during peak season, and many guests reported that the crowds felt unmanageable, so it’s unclear whether the system was as useful as it was intended to be.

This said, as fans will know, Disney World also no longer requires reservations for guests as of January 9, 2024. In addition to this, park hopping is available all day once again.

Why is Disney World Empty?

This question is certainly a thinker.

For months now, fans have been noting that the theme parks are emptier than usual during certain times of the year.

When it comes to why this might be the case, Inside the Magic explained, “Many Disney Parks fans blamed rising theme park ticket prices and higher temperatures for the thinner crowds. Some on social media cited The Walt Disney Company’s ongoing battle with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and the boycotts it inspired.”

However, many guests have also argued that the parks aren’t as empty as one might believe, and in reality, they are following patterns of on and off seasons.

Why is Disney World in Florida?

This last question is particularly amusing considering the history of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Mouse House over the last year, complete with the (failed) court cases and the recently reported settlement that the two parties have reached.

This said, when it comes to the history of their relationship, the primary reason that Disney World found itself in the Sunshine State is because of the supposed original plans for EPCOT.

Back when it was first envisioned, EPCOT was thought of and imagined as a futuristic city. In order to make this happen, Disney needed some special permission, and thus, the Reedy Creek Improvement was born. So why was the RCID in Florida? Because at the time Disney set up shop there, only they were willing to work with Disney’s conditions.

Despite the various threats that Disney will move to another state because of the DeSantis feud, it’s unlikely this will actually ever happen in our lifetimes (if ever).
