The following Disney World attractions will close their doors in 2024 for various amounts of time: here’s what you need to know.

Closures are part and parcel of the Disney experience. All Disney guests are used to the rides closing down temporarily for refurbishments and occasionally—unfortunately—even permanently, as with Splash Mountain or The Voyage of the Little Mermaid.

Over the last few months, we’ve has announced various closures for Disney World rides, and we’ve collected all the closures we know about and anticipate this year.

Guests can expect ride closures from some Disney’s attractions in all four theme parks: Magic Kingdom Park, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT.

When visiting Disney World in 2024, these are the closures you should keep in mind and plan around.

Magic Kingdom

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is one of those classic Disney rides that fans clamor to go on time and again. It’s one of those rides that, somehow, never seems to get old. Considering its popularity, it’s always sad when the ride has to shut its doors—even if temporarily.

Disney Parks fans should note that the ride will be closed briefly from January 16 to January 20, 2024, for a scheduled maintenance. Thankfully, it’s only a short refurbishment!

Country Bear Jamboree

Country Bear Jamboree is one of those attractions for which we are anticipating a closure.

Disney has long since promised that the attraction will undergo an exciting revamp and be reintroduced as Country Bear Musical Jamboree. The re-designed attraction will pay homage to popular country singers and Nashville shows.

After the revamp, Walt Disney Imagineering will bring a lot of new features to the ride including a country rendition of some iconic Disney songs like “The Bear Necessities.”

According to an update, the Country Bear Jamboree at Magic Kingdom Park will close for refurbishment on January 27, 2024, and reopen with a new show this summer. No specific opening date was provided. To enjoy this attraction as its original experience, you’ll want to do so before January 27.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios Theme Park

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith

On January 8, 2024, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith will close its doors for an elongated period of time for what Disney has termed “routine maintenance.” While no exact date has been provided, we know the attraction we reopen in summer 2024.

As we’ve established, refurbishments are normal with the Disney Park experience, however, it’s possible Disney could use this time to redo the ride—it wouldn’t be surprising, considering all the sexual assault allegations against Steven Tyler of Aerosmith and Disney’s general MO when it comes to these types of associations.

While nothing is confirmed and much speculation is around, it’ll be interesting to see if the roller coaster returns updated!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park

It’s Tough To Be A Bug!

This attraction will close its doors permanently this year. The attraction—”a creepy crawly bug-eyed adventure”—is set to close, though we don’t know when. What we do know is that it will be replaced by a Zootopia-themed attraction.

Disney is beginning to bring more of Zootopia (2016) to the parks; it’s a decision many guests are happy with, considering the popularity of the movie and franchise. The end of 2023 (December 20) saw a Zootopia-themed land open in Shanghai Disney Resort, and while there don’t seem to be any plans to bring a Zootopia land to Disney World, this upcoming attraction is a great start!

Kali River Rapids

It’s another routinely scheduled refurbishment with this attraction. Kali River Rapids will be closed from January 8, 2024, to mid-March of 2024. The ride is a fan-favorite and guests are guaranteed to both make a splash and be splashed themselves while enjoying everything it has to offer.

The ride is themed as a rafting expedition along the Chakranadi River, and is located in the “Asia” region of the theme park.

EPCOT

Test Track

Test Track is another ride that is scheduled to have a whole new revamp, and therefore is another closure we’re anticipating this year even though we don’t know exactly when the ride will shut shop.

What we do know, however, is that Chevrolet is working with Walt Disney Imagineering to draw inspiration from the original World of Motion. The plan is to bring a renewed “optimism” to the “next iteration” of Test Track.

Frozen Ever After

Fans of Frozen (2013) can breathe easy with this one. While the attraction is most definitely scheduled for a closure, it’s only closing for a short day from January 24, 2024 to January 25, 2024. The short closure is a routine check up to make sure everything is running smoothly in the icy world of Elsa, Anna and Olaf!
