While the Walt Disney World Resort and the Disneyland Resort are known as “The Most Magical Place on Earth” and “The Happiest Place on Earth,” respectively, there are times when we have tragic tidings to report from the Disney Parks. Last week, we reported on a possible suicide that occurred at Disney’s Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World; now, further details have been revealed about the incident.

In the latest update, as reported by Fox News, the death—first thought to be an apparent suicide—has been ruled “an accidental fall from a hotel room balcony.” The deceased was identified as 39-year-old Jeffery Vanden Boom of Greendale, Wisconsin, by the Orange County Medical Examiner and he died due to blunt force trauma.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office shared in a statement with Fox News Digital on Friday, “On July 26, 2023, at 5:33 a.m., deputies responded to the Contemporary Resort after a call came in about a man found unresponsive on the hotel grounds.”

In the statement, the Sheriff’s Office also added the man was pronounced deceased on the scene. The report also explained that Disney did not respond to repeated requests for comment from Fox News.

The news was first reported by Guests at Disney’s Contemporary Resort on social media. At the time, Guests had shared, “The fifth-floor sky bridge connecting the Bay Lake Tower to the main building at the Contemporary Resort was closed off as police investigated the area.”

This is unfortunately not the first time tragedy has struck at the Walt Disney World Resort, although these reports tend to be few and far between.
