No one would watch the HBO series Game of Thrones and associate it with any Disney movies, since the show is famous for its adult content (including extremely disturbing violence), but Game of Thrones actors are now on to new things and at least one actress from the show is now taking on a Disney role! Rosabell Laurenti Sellers is joining the cast of Willow, an upcoming Disney+ and Lucasfilm series.
There has already been lots of buzz about Willow, which is a TV remake of the classic 1988 fantasy film about a princess who embarks on a quest with her comrades to rescue her male twin. The new spin-off series is already in post-production, and the cast of the show has been announced before it is released on the streaming platform Disney+!
Talisa Garcia is playing a matriarch and a queen on the show, which was a significant casting decision since (according to Deadline) it was “the first known occasion an openly trans actor has been cast in a production from Disney-owned Lucasfilm”. Other cast members will include Tony Revolori, Amer Chadha-Patel, Ellie Bamber, Ruby Cruz, Erin Kellyman, and Warwick Davis.
The Game of Thrones actress who is acting on the new Willow show might not be as recognizable as Daenerys Targaryen actress Emilia Clarke (who has also had a role in a Star Wars film and was just in England filming a new Marvel show) or Jon Snow actor Kit Harington and Robb Stark actor Richard Madden (who have acted in the 2021 movie Eternals and are shown above), but you may recognize her character from later seasons of the HBO show!
Rosabell Laurenti Sellers played Tyene Sand, one of the Sand Snakes who was the daughter of Prince Oberyn Martell and Ellaria Sand. According to Deadline, Sellers will play “a resourceful character with sharp, acerbic wit” in this Willow reboot just as she did on Game of Thrones.
