Guests “Become Belligerent” at Disney Park, Disney Police Department Intervenes

Securing prime real estate to view the fireworks has become an extreme sport at Disney. The crown jewel of the Parks, Guests of all ages have locked down top-secret viewing points from locations across Walt Disney World, from Disney’s Contemporary Resort to catch Magic Kingdom’s “Happily Ever After” to Topolino’s Terrace to watch “EPCOT Forever,” the masterful productions are can’t-miss Disney itinerary items.

While terraces and rooftops allow Guests to get a cozy view with a swanky meal at spots like California Grill, there’s nothing quite like marveling up at the fireworks from a place in the Parks. Main Street, U.S.A., offers the best views of Magic Kingdom’s “Happily Ever After” near Cinderella Castle. Featuring pyrotechnics and projection mapping, the immersive show hit the Disney scene in 2017, and Guests have been in awe ever since.

But some Guests, particularly a group who overindulged in the Park’s libations, didn’t have a happy ending to their Park day on June 27. According to a Guest at the scene, the fireworks display turned into a Disney disaster.

“Saintly” Cast Members at Casey’s Corner

Perhaps still reverberating with a bit of shock, Redditor u/ClaytonBigsby830 left a cryptic message on the most magical subreddit, sharing the following post:

Shout Out to the Cast Members working crowd control in front of Casey’s on 6-27. The patience you all displayed in that situation was saintly. It is disappointing that people cannot simply follow basic instructions.

In the comments, the original poster continued:

There was a sizable group of women attempting to record happily ever after in the walkway and became belligerent when asked to move several times. They even made contact with a supervisor. Needless to say, Disney PD got involved.

The Cast Members referenced in the post are tasked with keeping walkways safe and clear ahead of, during, and after “Happily Ever After.” Casey’s Corner, a hot dog and french fry hub on Main Street, offers an excellent view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks. Specifically, the tables closest to the fence allow for the ultimate “Happily Ever After” Experience.

According to the post, the tensions between Cast Members and this rowdy crowd escalated to the point that Redditors like u/countesspetofi consider rare:

I’m not so certain it was needless to say. I’ve witnessed many situations where I thought the Disney cops should get involved but they didn’t.

A former Cast Member, u/blood-drunk-hoonter, added to the thread with a first-hand Casey’s account:

I used to work at Casey’s and have had to do that job and man it sucks. People are always wanting to stop and record the parade or fireworks and it can get so congested. People would also come into the lobby to try to record through the window. I’ve done a few roles at Disney but Casey’s was definitely the worst.

With behavior endangering other Guests in Liberty Square, the belligerent crew was likely removed from the Park, but our sympathy extends to the Cast Members. It’s hard enough to control a rowdy crowd gearing up for the fireworks, and nothing should ever escalate to that level.

At the time of writing, there are no updates on the group of women in question, but Disney Fanatic will share any news that comes our way.
