New Canon: ‘Han & Leia’ Honeymooned on Disney’s Galactic Starcruiser

In an upcoming Star Wars novel, Disney World’s Galactic Starcruiser will officially be canon in a very romantic way. The starship Halcyon will be known as the ship Han Solo and Leia Organa cruised on for their honeymoon.

The connection will be made in the upcoming novel The Princess and the Scoundrel by Beth Revis. According to Star Wars.com,

“Set just after the events of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, the story begins on the forest moon of Endor, where Han proposes in the elation of the rebel victory against the Empire. After a ceremony at the site of the victory celebration at the end of the film, the newlyweds depart for a honeymoon aboard the Halcyon starcruiser, the luxury vessel at the heart of the new Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser experience at Disney World Resort. In their most desperate hour, with the war still raging but the Empire nearing its last gasp, the couple must outwit the Imperial remnants clinging to power.”

It would not be too far-fetched to say that Star Wars canon can get a little… complicated… especially when it comes to the non-movie material. And Disney and Lucasfilm have both made it clear that they are re-writing the old canon–which was basically fan fiction blessed by George Lucas–for their own versions of the story.

Disney and Lucasfilm have expanded the canon to include everything that happens in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Guests literally step into a moment of time in the Post-Jedi Star Wars Canon by visiting the Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu. Now, it looks like Disney is taking measures to expand it even further by including the Halcyon.

Now, it is very doubtful if Guests will find the newlywed Han and Leia on their voyage. It has already been confirmed that the cruise will take place at the same time as Black Spire Outpost, which takes place over 20 years after the events of Jedi. But, making Halcyon the honeymoon ship of the galaxy’s most beloved couple is a crucial detail to make Galactic Starcruiser even more relevant, especially for all of the Star Wars couples across the galaxy who would love to walk a lightyear in their idols’ shoes.

Voyages the Halcyon begin March 1, 2022. The novel, The Princess and the Scoundrel is set for release on August 16, 2022.
