Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is finally here, and Disney fans are lining up for the new thrill ride in EPCOT’s Wonders of Xandar pavilion at Walt Disney World Resort! If you’re a devout Disney fan or Marvel fan, you’ve probably already been keeping an eye on the Disney Fanatic News following the ride’s production and any announcements from Walt Disney World about the ride — but to make things easy for all intergalactic travelers, here is a brief summary of the must-know items before you head to the Wonders of Xandar pavilion in the Disney Park EPCOT!
The Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind roller coaster is operating on a virtual queue and Individual Lightning Lane basis. The price (plus tax) per Disney Guest is $17 until May 30; on and after May 30, the price drops to $14 (plus tax) per Disney Guest. Disney fans have been openly conflicted about whether or not they think it’s worth it to pay for Individual Lightning Lane access to the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind thrill ride.
Once you arrive for the ride, you’ll enter the Wonders of Xandar pavilion in EPCOT (the first “otherworld showcase” in EPCOT’s World Showcase, according to one of the Disney Imagineers from Walt Disney Imagineering who helped build it and design it). This pavilion features lots of fun new facts about Xandar’s people and its culture.
You can expect appearances from plenty of Guardians of the Galaxy franchise actors during the ride. The Guardians of the Galaxy themselves (shown below) are back, and so is Glenn Close in her role as Nova Prime (the leader of Nova Corps)!
According to one Walt Disney Imagineer, filming the scenes for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind was a nice “warmup” for the Guardians of the Galaxy and Marvel actors before they began working on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Thor: Love and Thunder.
So far, reviews of this ride (from Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members who were given early access to the roller coaster) have been very positive. The fast-paced ride has also been called “very exciting” by one Disney Imagineer — and since Imagineers seem to have a high bar for excitement, this probably means that you can expect quite the thrilling experience as you travel with the Guardians of the Galaxy!
