The 1980s were a great time to be a celebrity. It was a time of excess that celebrated greatness in music, movies, and sports.
The 80s brought us Michael Jackson, Madonna, Tom Cruise, and the Brat Pack, and dominating the world that brought athletics and celebrities together was none other than Hulk Hogan of the World Wrestling Federation (now World Wrestling Entertainment).

However, since then, Hogan fell on some hard times. After his reality show, Hogan Rules, his wife divorced him, allegedly taking millions from him. He then sued Gawker in an infamous case after the website published a sex tape of him and another man’s wife.
In that case, Hogan was awarded $115 million for pain and suffering, libel, and emotional distress. Since then, Hogan has found a new friend in former President Donald Trump.
Hulk Hogan and Donald Trump became so close that Hogan introduced the former president at this year’s Republican National Convention. In the nearly nine-minute speech, Hogan called Trump his hero and verbally slammed President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Hogan ended his speech by ripping off his shirt to reveal a Trump/JD Vance tank top.
Shortly after his appearance at the RNC, a video emerged of the former wrestler on stage at a bar, apparently drunk. He made racist comments about Kamala Harris and, at one point, asked the audience if they wanted him to “body slam Kamala Harris.”
After Hogan’s appearance for the Trump Campaign and comments about the vice president, rumors began to swirl online that the Hogan biopic starring Chris Hemsworth had been canceled because of Hogan’s comments and racism.
The Reality
The Chris Hemsworth biopic of Hulk Hogan had been dead for almost a year before he commented about Vice President Kamala Harris. Joe Russo, who was set to be one of the producers, took to X (formerly Twitter) to refute those claims about the film.
As someone who was a producer on the Hulk Hogan biopic, I can tell you the below tweet is fake news.
The movie fell apart in 2023 and had absolutely nothing to do with Hulk Hogan appearing at the RNC a few weeks ago or any recent comments he made about Kamala Harris. https://t.co/OPPLlronXc

Todd Phillips was set to direct the Hemsworth biopic, exploring Hogan’s rise to fame in World Wrestling Entertainment. However, the movie fell apart when Netflix backed out of the project.
However, a second Hogan biopic is in the works. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are producing a biopic about Hogan’s Gawker trial. This movie is said to be directed by Gus Van Sant.

Despite having a director in place, there does not appear to be a timetable for the Damon/Affleck film to hit theaters. There is also no word on whether Hogan’s latest comments could complicate the production of a movie that could potentially make him look like a hero.
So, for now, former wrestler Hulk Hogan will just have to wait and see if there are any consequences for his threatening to “body slam Kamala Harris,” the sitting Vice President of the United States and Democratic presidential candidate.
