The constant price increases for Magic Keys mean that some families are officially being forced out of Disney.

The reality that Disney is simply becoming too expensive for the average American family is becoming more real for more people every day. For years now, fans have been speaking out about the rising prices. Executives, on the other hand, have typically just justified these prices as necessary.

Families Take to Social Media to Bid Disney Adieu

Whether it’s been a Disney vacation at the Walt Disney World Resort or going to the Southern California Disneyland Resort, everyone would agree it costs a ton more to afford an enjoyable Disney experience at the parks. It seems like with the recent Magic Keys sale, it’s officially become too much for some.

One former Disney guest took to social media to share, “I am unfortunately unable to pay to renew my Magic Keys, 19th and 20th will be my last trips to Disneyland for a while. God speed all you magic key renewals. Have a magical year everyone!”

It has been an honor

Fans in the comments were in similar boats to the OP. One commented, “I’m also done this year I think. Everything has gotten too expensive.”

Another explained,

It might sound dramatic, but I feel like I’m fighting with the park every time I go. Fighting the lines (even when it’s not crowded wtf), fighting prices, fighting CMs (not really fighting – they’re the best, but they really seem like they don’t want to be there), fighting just to get in (reservations), the list goes on.”

The user continued that previously, it felt like their worries melted away at Disney, and now, they are “concerned about how much every step I take is going to cost.”

However, there were also guests who could choose to renew—they could afford it, but they were choosing not to do so. They shared that the Disney theme park experience had lost its touch over the years, and the once immersive environment was no longer quite the same.

It’s certainly an unfortunate turn of events to see the Disney vacation experience that was once designed to be for anyone and everyone become more and more inaccessible to most fans.

  1. We are Canadians and the currencey exchange is 40 cents on the do;;ar we cannot afford disney anymore

  2. Someone has to pay for the Tiana’s Boring Adventure re-theme.

  3. We have been going to WDW since our children were in grade school in the 1980s. We would eat in the van in the parking lot and then return to the park due to the prices. We always thought we would get to the point where we would not have to do that and enjoy all day in the parks. We have done so but it is only due to being an Annual Pass holder. Though now it has come to pass that this may be the last year due to the recent price hikes. The CEO and staff are satisfying the stockholders at the cost of those who support Walt’s dream: “Where you can spend time as a “Family with the daughters. Sadly, Walt’s dream is slowly dying at the hands of the money changers. I do not see it changing unless they stop their fights with the governments removing loved attractions, codling the wealthy elite at the cost of the average folk. Hopefully the rich will keep them going or they wake up and stop the high costs. Maybe cut the salaries of the CEO and the rest of the elite board, increase the pay of lower employees, and lower the prices for those who have supported them for over 40 years.

  4. My daughter and I have been passholders for the Florida parks for years. Seriously considering not renewing them when they expire in a few weeks.

  5. I hate the price increases. It’s definitely becoming to expensive for me. I can’t go as often as I want to because of the expense.

  6. I haven’t been to Disney for a few years, pre-Covid was the last time we went as a family of 7. We are looking at hopefully going back as a family of 9 in 2026, however, looking at prices for this year to stay onsite for 6 nights and with park tickets it is extortionate. We also have to add in flight costs from the UK which, since Covid, have increased horrendously. We are having to start saving now for 2026 and while I have always found the magic in our Disney holidays, even I’m not sure it will be worth the cost. It is likely to be our last visit to Disney for a long time and is really only taking place because our youngest grandchild has never visited. Such a shame.
