For years, actor Johnny Depp was a huge part of Hollywood. The talented actor starred in a number of iconic films, including Edward Scissorhands, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, Sleepy Hollow, Murder on the Orient Express, and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: The Crimes of Grindelwald. He became even more loved by Disney fans when he starred as Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Depp was a star, and there was seemingly nothing that could bring him down.
However, things took a big downturn in 2018, when an OpEd was published in The Washington Post. Depp was accused of domestic abuse by his ex-wife, Amber Heard. The actor was dropped by a number of studios and lost out on many upcoming projects, including an untitled Pirates of the Caribbean 6 and the third film in the Fantastic Beasts franchise. Depp sued Heard for $50 million for defamation, and Heard countersued him. In the end, a jury awarded Depp more than $10 million in damages.
It’s been more than a year since the trial ended, and Depp has tried to get his life back to normal. He has acted in a couple of movies and has been touring the world with his band, Hollywood Vampires. Depp is one of the founding members of the group, whose other members include Alice Cooper, Joe Perry, and Tommy Henriksen.
Depp’s band was recently in Budapest, Hungary, when things took a scary turn. According to the news outlet DiaDia, the band had to cancel a show because Depp experienced a medical emergency.
Through their social networks, Hollywood Vampires said they were extremely sorry for not showing up before their fans who had already bought their tickets. And although they did not give further details, they assured that it was due to unforeseen causes. However, days later, the Daily News Hungary newspaper revealed that Depp’s health was affected and that the incident would have been serious. Since they had to call a doctor to make sure there were no major complications.
Depp had reportedly been drinking before the show and didn’t feel well, so he didn’t attend the soundcheck.
Local media assured that hours before the interpreter of Jack Sparrow was drinking and would have said he felt bad. Even he was not part of the soundcheck: «Everything was set, the stage was set, the backstage team was ready to party. It never occurred to anyone that there might be a problem, especially since the band members had done the sound check. Nobody thought about the fact that Johnny Depp did not participate. The microphone on him was installed by a staff member, but that’s not unusual for such stars,” an attendee told the newspaper
Thankfully, it appears that Depp suffered no major medical complications. The group is continuing the tour and recently performed at Summerstage Autostadt in Wolfsburg, Germany. It is unknown if the band will return to Budapest to make up for the show they had to cancel.
