In 1993, Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park completely redefined cinema. Audiences were stunned by the combination of practical effects from Stan Winston and cutting-edge digital effects from Industrial Light & Magic, while Michael Crichton’s story of genetically resurrected dinosaurs turned into a worldwide phenomenon.
The film didn’t just dominate box office charts; it launched a multi-billion-dollar franchise, extending into sequels, video games, animated series, and theme park attractions that continue to draw massive crowds.

A New Dinosaur Movie Is Coming to Theaters
Now, more than three decades later, a new dinosaur story is preparing to enter theaters: The End of Oak Street (2026).
Directed by David Robert Mitchell and produced by J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot, the film stars Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor. The first trailer gives glimpses of a large theropod dinosaur chasing the family through their suburban street, though much of the prehistoric world remains hidden. Watch the teaser below:
The official synopsis from Warner Bros. Pictures reads:
“After a mysterious cosmic event rips Oak Street from suburbia and transports their neighborhood to someplace unknown, the Platt family soon discovers that their very survival depends on them sticking together as they navigate their now unrecognizable surroundings”.
Comparisons With Jurassic Park Are Inevitable
Unlike the carefully engineered dinosaurs of Jurassic Park, this story leans on time-displacement and neighborhood-scale survival, presenting a different type of threat and spectacle.
Whether The End of Oak Street will ever approach the cultural or financial impact of Jurassic Park remains to be seen. Jurassic Park set a standard that few dinosaur movies have come close to, with even recent entries like 65 (2023) failing to make a lasting impression. Still, this new release could mark a rare attempt to relaunch the dinosaur genre for modern audiences, blending blockbuster spectacle with a fresh narrative twist.
The End of Oak Street is scheduled for August 14, 2026, giving audiences their first look at a dinosaur story outside the Jurassic Park universe in years.
