Disney Imagineer Zach Riddley Shares a First Look at Beacons of Magic on Spaceship Earth

Earlier this year, Disney shared the upcoming Beacons of Magic display coming to EPCOT icon Spaceship Earth during the Walt Disney World 50th anniversary celebrations!

Today, Imagineering Creative Portfolio Executive Zach Riddley shared our first look at this stunning new display:

This new image shows how this classic attraction and EPCOT icon will come to life in a new way during The Most Magical Celebration on Earth, which kicks off October 1. Imagineers have been hard at work designing and installing numerous light fixtures to create this effect, and their work combined with the earlier installation of the original EPCOT inspired fountain is making this a sight we are truly excited to take in this fall.

Additional enhancements at EPCOT include the reopening of fan-favorite Coke store/sampling station Club Cool (including the infamous Beverly), and the installation of Fab 50 character statues throughout the park (with statues in this collection also making their way to the Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom.”

The new Creations Shop just opened in EPCOT as well, replacing Mouse Gear as the park’s flagship merchandise location with decor that follows through with the iconic new designs that Imagineers are implementing for both the 50th anniversary celebrations and the reimagining of EPCOT. In addition to beautifully painted murals of Mickey Mouse, the Creations Shop is now home to EPCOT-exclusive Disney Parks merchandise, with some items only available in the shop.

We love seeing the Beacons of Magic display coming together on Spaceship Earth (can you get over these colors?! And the lights…) and can’t wait to see its full debut (along with Harmonious) on October 1, 2021!
