The third installment of the cheeky ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ series has started filming, and Scottish actress Karen Gillan is ready for it. The award-winning actress, who is also known for her work outside the Marvel Cinematic Universe (namely ‘Dr. Who’, ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’, ‘Jumanji: The Next Level’, and the new action movie ‘Gunpowder Milkshake’), plays the blue robot alien Nebula in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ as well as in the most recent Avengers movies. To play Nebula, Karen has had to do everything from shaving her hair (she wears wig caps now instead) to training in martial arts to spending hours getting prosthetic makeup put on her skin. She even has to sit still for hours while her entire face is covered to make a mold of her face for Nebula prosthetic artists to work with! Karen’s Nebula costume is challenging to say the least, and the actress went on Instagram to share one of her tricks for protecting her skin from the intensive process!
In the photo above, Karen is shown donning a sheet mask. Sheet masks are known for their calming benefits, since they drench the skin in hydrating antioxidants, and there’s no doubt that the makeup required to play Nebula could really irritate skin. Karen has already revealed several tips for keeping her skin happy despite challenges like intense makeup, and we’ve got them here!
The young actress from Inverness (who will be playing Merida in the live-action Brave, if Disney Pixar fans have their way) also reposted an old photo of the Guardians of the Galaxy cast that director James Gunn had shared. She added this caption to the photo: “Very glad to have the Guardians family back together with our fearless leader back where he belongs! This movie is gonna blow your socks off so GET. READY. PEOPLE.” The cast of Guardians of the Galaxy includes Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Sean Gunn, Vin Diesel, and Pom Klementieff. Will Poulter is also joining the cast in Vol. 3!
