Guardian of the Galaxy’s Nebula Heads to Universal

Karen Gillan (the Scottish actress that most Disney fans will recognize (or, perhaps, NOT recognize) for her role as the blue, robotic Nebula) has decided to take a day trip in the midst of press days for her new action movie Gunpowder Milkshake (which she did alongside Michelle Yeoh from Shang-Chi: Legend of the Ten Rings). Even though Disneyland would certainly like a visit from the “Jumanji” and “Guardians of the Galaxy” star, Karen Gillan headed to Universal for a day of roller coasters and meet n’ greets!

The Scotswoman took to Instagram to share her experiences from the day, and judging by her pictures, we can guess that she wouldn’t do particularly well on Disney World rides like DINOSAUR or Haunted Mansion (and maybe she shouldn’t visit Disneyland during the Oogie Boogie Bash). Gillan acknowledged her own failed courage, saying that she “went on some rides” and “didn’t cope very well.” That seems to be an understatement!

Since Marvel fans are intimately familiar with Gillan’s character Nebula, the contrast between the actress and her Marvel Studios role is particularly amusing! Nebula is a stoic, unsmiling, traumatized blue automaton of sorts (although she is not entirely without feeling, as seen in her connection to her sister Gamora who is played by Avatar‘s Zoe Saldana). To remember that the Nebula from Avengers movies like Infinity War is played by a pale Scottish woman who is known for her charming nature, goofy antics, easy laugh, and self-deprecating humor is always a bit of a surprise! We can’t be sure what Nebula would do on a roller coaster (although her role in the new Thor: Ragnarok, which recently wrapped filming in New Zealand, might provide some insight) but we suspect that the intergalactic warrior would simply sit, stone-faced, the entire time. What do you think of the contrast between Karen Gillan and the Marvel Cinematic Universe character that she plays? Were you already familiar with the actress behind the blue skin?
