The Caribbean is getting a brand new Theme Park, and it is opening right in the middle of Spring Break 2023, potentially putting another tropical destination in the running for those tourists flocking to Florida for the “thrills and beach” combination.
It’s called Katmandu Park, and it is opening in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Named and themed after the capital of Nepal and jumping-off point to scores of Himalayan expeditions, it is the second Theme Park in “The Hidden Realms of Katmandu” franchise which began with Katmandu Park, Mallorca in the Mediterranean.
According to CNN, “Katmandu isn’t about space-eating coasters looping around for a mile or more. Instead, the park is offering what it calls a “big experience / small footprint” concept, with compact immersive and dark rides set on a smaller plot of land, which is precious in the Caribbean.”
Marquee dark rides will include rides like the ultra-immersive ON!X Theater dueling attraction, Challenge of the Mad Mage, an interactive walk-through attraction called EtherQuest, a 4D dark ride called Legend of the Desirata that “tells the Katmandu origin story,” and the “suspended theater” attraction where riders battle a sea monster called Voyage of the Fathom Wanderer.

Guests will also be able to partake in the 36-hole “Expedition Golf” course, an indoor climbing experience called “The Quadagon,” and a carousel called The Wheel of Infinite Wonder. No Resort Hotels appear to be attached to the Theme Park, and the parent company, Falcon’s Beyond, also plans to build a shopping and dining entertainment complex by 2025.
“Katmandu Park | Punta Cana brings the story of the Hidden Realms to life through one-of-a-kind family-friendly attractions and immersive media-based entertainment utilizing first-of-its-kind technology,” the Theme Park states on its website.
Tickets start at $85 for kids 12 and under.
