As many seasoned Disney World guests know, staying on-site at one of Disney’s resorts comes with a host of perks.

Whether it’s the Early Theme Park Entry or easy transportation options, Disney aims to make your stay as hassle-free as possible. However, even within the famed “Disney Bubble,” maintenance work must happen from time to time to ensure that everything is running smoothly.

That’s exactly what’s happening at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort: French Quarter over the next few days. If you have plans to stay at this charming, New Orleans-inspired resort, be prepared for some potential disruptions. Disney has scheduled fire alarm testing to take place from Thursday, October 17th to Wednesday, October 23rd. The testing will occur between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM on those days, with loud ringing and music likely to be heard across the resort.

This noise could come as a surprise if you weren’t aware of the testing, but thankfully, Disney has posted warnings around the resort and at check-in. Guests are encouraged to reach out to Cast Members if they have any questions or concerns about the testing.

Now, here’s the important part: if you plan on being out at the parks all day, this testing probably won’t impact you. However, if you’re planning on taking a midday break back at your resort or spending a day lounging by the pool, the noise may disrupt your relaxation. It’s something to keep in mind as you plan your days.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Disney has done maintenance work like this. Refurbishments and safety tests are a necessary part of keeping the resorts safe and up to Disney’s high standards. And while it might be a temporary inconvenience, it also means that once the work is done, you’ll enjoy an even better experience at the French Quarter, with refreshed rooms and a resort that’s been given some extra TLC.

As Disney continues its work at Port Orleans, the best way to avoid the noise is to plan your time outside the resort during the testing hours. Maybe take a boat ride over to Disney Springs, visit the parks, or explore some of the other resorts nearby. By doing this, you can enjoy your vacation while avoiding any disruptions caused by the fire alarm testing.

In the grand scheme of things, a little bit of noise for a few days isn’t much to worry about. Disney is committed to making sure its guests are both safe and satisfied, and this testing is just another step in that direction. So, whether you’re a first-timer or a Disney veteran, knowing about the fire alarm testing ahead of time will allow you to plan around it and still have a magical stay.
