How it Works

We took the best 32 rides at Walt Disney World and broke them down into four brackets. The rides/attractions are grouped together based on the types of rides and given a seeding one through eight.

The four brackets are: Thrill rides, Old School rides, New Tech rides, and rides based on characters.

We will then collect votes from the comments below and Facebook comments to determine the winners of each opening-round matchup.

The Sweet 16 results and Elite 8 matchups are presented below. We will publish the results every Saturday, along with the next matchups, until we have a winner.

Sweet 16 Winners

Thrill Ride Bracket

1. Big Thunder Mountain vs. 4. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

After knocking off Test Track, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad found itself up against its fellow Magic Kingdom ride. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train took out Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster to get into the Sweet 16, but this is where the journey ends for Snow White's trusted friends.

Big Thunder Mountain took in nearly 60 percent of the vote on its way to the Elite 8.

3. Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind vs. 7. Tower of Terror

Tower of Terror scored one of the tournament's biggest upsets by knocking off Space Mountain. But, the underdog from the Twilight Zone found itself up against one of the favorites of the contest, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.

And this is where the Cinderella Story ends. Guardians took home a convincing victory, earning 75 percent of the vote.

‘Old School' Bracket

1. Haunted Mansion vs. 5. Kilimanjaro Safaris

Magic Kingdom's Haunted Mansion proved to be the most-dominate ride in the tournament so far, taking home a convincing win over Dumbo. Kilimanjaro Safaris was one of only two Animal Kingdom rides that made it past the first round, but the journey ended there for the Animal Kingdom ride.

Haunted Mansion again dominated the competition with 80 percent of the vote and a trip to the Elite 8.

2. Pirates of the Caribbean vs. 7. The Tomorrowland Transit Authority People Mover

The People Mover scored a massive upset over EPCOT's Spaceship Earth in the first round, while Pirates of the Caribbean knocked off its Adventureland counterpart, The Jungle Cruise.

And again, the Cinderella Story ends here. Pirates took home a massive win with 75 percent of the vote.

The New Tech Bracket

1. Soarin' vs. 4 Avatar Flight of Passage

Soarin was able to score a win over its Land Pavilion neighbor, Living with the Land. While Avatar took out Mission: Space. Avatar holds the banner for Animal Kingdom, and that banner will live another day.

Avatar took home 55 percent of the vote in the closest matchup of the second round.

2. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance vs. 3. Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railroad

Rise of the Resistance won a Star Wars family war over Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run, while Mickey and Minnie took out Dinosaur. But this is where the runaway railroad stops.

Rise of the Resistance took 60 percent of the vote, quickly flying into the Elite 8.

Character Bracket

1. Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin vs. 4. Slinky Dog Dash

It's an all-Toy Story battle, although at different theme parks. Buzz took out Na'vi River Journey while Slinky stretched past Remy's Ratatouille's Adventure. And now, Slinky will win the Toy Story battle for Andy's heart.

Slink won 65 percent of the vote and dashes into the Elite 8.

2. Journey Into Imagination With Figment vs. 6. Peter Pan's Flight

In the opening round, Peter Pan took out Frozen, while Figment ended Ariel's reign. The two fan favorites now go head to head with Peter Pan flying into the Neverland of the next round.

Peter Pan won 60 percent of the vote, while Figment sadly heads home.

Elite 8 Matchups

Thrill Rides Bracket

1. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad vs. 3 Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind

EPCOT's only remaining ride is up against the classic Magic Kingdom thrill ride for a trip to the final four. It is the classic Walt Disney World battle of “old school” vs. “new tech.” Both are fan favorites, but will nostalgia beat out the desire for something new?

‘Old School' Bracket

1. Haunted Mansion vs. 3. Pirates of the Caribbean

Two classic Magic Kingdom rides that have a touch of Walt Disney in them. If it were strictly movies, Pirates would win by a landslide, but despite the poor showing of its films, Haunted Mansion is a fan-favorite. So, one ride for the rest of your life. Are you on a pirate ship or doom buggy?

New Tech Bracket

2. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance vs. 4. Avatar Flight of Passage

Both are based on billion-dollar franchises. Would you prefer a ride through a galaxy far, far away or flying through Pandora on a banshee? It is an age-old question. But which fanbase has more clout: Star Wars or Avatar?

Character Bracket

4. Slinky Dog Dash vs. 6. Peter Pan's Flight

Two unlikely candidates to make it this far, but Peter Pan and Slinky have survived while other characters have faltered. The question is, do you prefer the thrills of the dash or the slow-paced flight?
