Box office failure The Marvels (2023) was recently released on Disney’s streaming platform, Disney+, and fans are delighted with what they’re seeing, contrary to the movie’s disappointing theatrical performance.
One of the most notable things about Disney’s recent performance at the box office is how many films have seemingly not done well or have been “badly made,” only to be later lauded by audiences. Whether it was Elemental (2023), which was only successful due to word-of-mouth marketing on the part of Disney fans, or now, apparently, as with The Marvels.

The Marvels Releases on Disney+ to Rave Reviews
Earlier this month, the Marvel Cinematic Universe film The Marvels was released on Disney’s streaming platform, Disney+. The movie had done quite abysmally at the box office, and many had claimed it was “the worst Marvel movie” ever made.
However, as it turns out, many who believed the online reviews and stayed away from Marvel Studios’ film when it was running in theaters thoroughly enjoyed the Marvel movie when they watched it online on Disney+.
One user even called out this sudden 180 that one of Marvel Studios’ latest is experiencing. The user wrote,
Seeing all the appreciation for The Marvels 3 months after its release is another prime example of how y’all need to see movies for yourselves and form your own opinions instead of listening to losers who hate on popular things for engagement and clout

Another appreciated a specific scene from the movie: “the marvels really gave one of the coolest scenes in cbm history cause she really restarted this with raw power, we need to see that power in captain marvel 3″

However, it is worth noting that many still took to these posts to disagree with the positive comments, insisting that the Brie Larson feature was bad.
One user, in response to this, ventured the guess, “I think they hated it more that it’s women empowerment than clout.”
Did you watch “The Marvels?” What did you think of the movie? Do you believe people hated it because of its themes of women’s empowerment? Let us know in the comments!
