Alcohol Coming to Three More Disney Restaurants!

When Walt Disney first opened Disneyland Park in 1955, he made it clear that he wanted Disneyland to be a dry Park. That means that he did not want any alcohol served there. The same no-alcohol rule was put in place when Magic Kingdom opened at Disney World in 1971. But things changed in a big way when EPCOT opened in 1982. It was the first Disney Park to serve alcohol. While more alcohol made its way to the other Parks, Disneyland Park and Magic Kingdom remained alcohol-free. Then, in 2012, Disney made a big move and began serving alcohol — in a limited capacity — at the Magic Kingdom’s Be Our Guest restaurant.

For nearly 65 years, Disneyland stayed a dry theme park. If Guests wanted to purchase a boozy beverage, then they could head to Downtown Disney or Disney California Adventure Park. Then, in 2018, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened. Oga’s Cantina was a part of the new area and the first spot in Disneyland Park to sell booze. Not long after, Guests could also purchase alcohol when they dined at Blue Bayou — the restaurant located inside the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction.

Now, Disney has announced that three more restaurants will soon begin selling alcoholic drinks.

Carnation Café is located right along Main Street, U.S.A., next to Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor. The restaurant’s vibe and menu transport Guests back to the 1950s, when Disneyland first opened. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the menu offers a number of classic dishes. For breakfast, Guests can dine on waffles, pancakes, and oatmeal. Lunch and dinner options include a patty melt, classic cheeseburger, chicken fried steak, brownie à la mode, and Walt’s Chili (the most popular menu item).

River Belle Terrace and Café Orleans are both located in New Orleans Square and offer a variety of southern dishes. At River Belle Terrace, Guests can indulge in pimento cheese dip, fried catfish, mac & cheese, pulled pork, and more. Over at Café Orleans, Guests love to enjoy garlic Parmesan fries, chicken gumbo, red wine braised short rib, and roasted chicken. Café Orleans also serves one of Disneyland’s most iconic dishes, the Monte Cristo sandwich.

At this time, we do not know exactly what alcoholic beverages will be served at Carnation Café, Café Orleans, or River Belle Terrance. Disney Fanatic will update readers when menus are released.
