Most popular Disney World rides of 2022

2022 has officially come to an end, which means that definitive statistics are finally able to come in and answer some of the most pondered questions of the year, such as, “what were the most popular Disney World rides of 2022?” Well, now we know.

@WDWStats has kept tabs on ride operations at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom on a daily basis, especially with each ride’s average wait times.

Walt Disney World Resort Theme Parks and filled with legendary rides, many of which are infamous for their long lines, from Avatar Flight of Passage in Pandora: The World of Avatar to Peter Pan’s Flight in Fantasyland, from Toy Story Mania to The Haunted Mansion.

But what were the most popular Disney World rides for 2022? Well, by looking at the average wait time held all year, @WDWStats came up with a proper “Top 5” List. Three of those five are in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and the list does not include Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, or Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.

The most popular ride at Disney World in 2022 was Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The headline attraction of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge maintained an average wait time of 110 minutes. Coming in at a close second is Avatar Flight of Passage at Disney’s Animal Kingdom with a 96-minute wait. The Slinky Dog Dash roller coaster in Toy Story Land, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, slinked into third place, recording a year-long average wait of 87 minutes. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror came in fourth with an 82-minute average wait. And in fifth place is Seven Dwarfs Mine Train–the only Magic Kingdom ride to make the list–, with an average 76-minute wait all year.

On a Park-to-Park basis, Disney’s Hollywood Studios maintained the highest overall waiting time by a significant margin, peaking at a Park-wide average of nearly 80 minutes in March. Magic Kingdom and EPCOT appeared to flip-flop for the lowest overall wait times throughout the year.

2023 promises to be an exciting year with TRON: Lightcycle/Run finally opening in Tomorrowland and the Moana-themed Journey of Water exhibit opening at EPCOT. Perhaps we will see a changing of the guard as to which is the most popular Park with the most popular rides.

It should be noted that this is an article about the most popular Disney World rides of 2022 and does mean to suggest any of the above rides are the best ride.
