A murder case three years old is finally making progress in court.
Celebration, Florida is a town regular readers of this publication will most likely automatically associate with Walt Disney World. It is a quaint development project just outside the Walt Disney World Resort, and for most of its life, it was actually owned by The Walt Disney Company.
However, it is nowhere near the perfect planned Disney community that Walt would have wanted. It is a real town where real-world issues–like crime–occur.
In this particular case, Celebration resident Anthony Todt stands accused of killing his wife, their three children, and their dog in 2019. While the crime occurred three years ago, the jury trial is only three days old.
According to WESH, Todt admitted to killing his family. However, it appears that he has walked back on those statements. In his testimony, he claims that his wife killed their children before taking her own life and that he confessed to doing it in order to cover for her. Either way, WESH reports that the bodies were reportedly in the house and wrapped in blankets for weeks after the event occurred. It was only during an insurance fraud investigation that authorities were able to enter the home and find the bodies.

It should be noted at this point that Celebration is not a gated community exclusive to Disney World Cast Members. It is a living town that features a wide spectrum of people and professions that work completely separate from The Walt Disney Company. Todt, for instance, is a former physical therapist. He is not facing the death penalty. It is unclear at this time exactly why the trial did not get underway until more than two years after the incident.
