The secrecy that surrounded the new Marvel movie Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness (which comes to theaters on May 6) was actually on the same level as Star Wars secrecy (even though fans still speculated to no end, especially about Tom Cruise and Deadpool‘s involvement), but now some critics have finally gotten to see the movie before its premiere — and they’ve shared their opinions on Twitter!
One reviewer called Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness “the darkest and most brutal MCU film to date”, while another called the Marvel movie “a bendy, twisty, shattered, VERY dark brew”. Apparently, this movie will be like no other Marvel film!
#MultiverseofMadness was SO SO SO SO MUCH FUN! Not only that, it’s easily the darkest and most brutal MCU film to date. Elizabeth Olsen steals the show, easily making her one of the best characters in this film. The number one spot although, goes to Xochitil Gomez, (1/3)

Just saw #DoctorStrange & things definitely got out of hand. Take Marvel, stir in Sam Raimi & you get a bendy, twisty, shattered, VERY dark brew. It was not at all what I was expecting & I loved the ride. Explosive visuals and yes very much a horror pic.twitter.com/bAYC0QyFHQ

Elizabeth Olsen (the actress who plays Wanda Maximoff, aka the Scarlett Witch) was praised by multiple reviewers for her performance in this “wild and weird” film, particularly since the actress has already shown off her dramatic acting skills when she portrayed Wanda in the Disney+ Marvel series WandaVision.
DOCTOR STRANGE AND THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS rules!!!!! A wild and weird superhero horror film that is ridiculously entertaining and 100% Raimi. This is top-tier MCU and unlike anything they’ve made before.#DoctorStrange #MultiverseOfMadness #MCU pic.twitter.com/T56evW35pR

Fans of director Sam Raimi and his other work will be pleasantly surprised to see that the director’s approach to filmmaking isn’t toned down a bit by his involvement with a Doctor Strange movie and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the Tweet below, one reviewer said that they “can’t imagine a more Sam Raimi MCU [Marvel Cinematic Universe] film”.
#DoctorStrange: MARVEL MADE A HORROR MOVIE! It's weird, scary and earns the title "Multiverse of Madness." If you were at all concerned this movie wouldn't feel Sam Raimi enough, fear not! I can't imagine a more Sam Raimi MCU film. My genre loving heart is bursting right now. pic.twitter.com/9we5vMpXhy

We already knew that this new Marvel movie (which stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Stephen Strange) would be classified as a horror movie, which is big news in the world of Marvel. The reviewer from the Tweet below confirmed this, however, saying that it is both Marvel’s “scariest” and “most violent” creation so far!
#DoctorStrange in the #MultiverseofMadness is mind-bending with huge action sequences and a tremendous performance from Elizabeth Olsen. Definitely dives into the horror of it all. Marvel's scariest – and most violent(!) – to date. pic.twitter.com/E9UphSt3qf

If you love the usual Marvel blockbusters and their superhero-landing-filled style, then it does look like there will be some of that in this Marvel Studios film; however, overall, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness is apparently “top-tier MCU [Marvel Cinematic Universe]” that is really “unlike anything they’ve made before”.
Fans of Marvel’s typical fare might be a bit taken aback, but people who are not usually drawn to Marvel might find this new movie to be just as intriguing as the equally-unique new Marvel show Moon Knight!
