A Fantastical Competition Comes to Disney+

the quest disney

Everyone loves a good fantasy-adventure quest, whether it’s a quest for a family reunion like in Onward (2020) or a quest for some magical artifacts like in Raya and the Last Dragon. Now, Disney is combining unscripted reality TV with some scripted Disney quest storylines in a new competition series called The Quest!

According to D23, “Disney+’s upcoming Original Series The Quest is a groundbreaking, immersive, hybrid competition series that drops eight real-life teenagers (aka Paladins) into the fantastic, fictional world of Everealm, where they must save a kingdom by fulfilling an ancient prophecy”. Take a look at the new trailer for the reality show slash Disney fantasy show The Quest below!

This reality show and competition show actually had an original season back in 2014, with filming taking place at a castle in Vienna, Austria, but the show was cancelled before Disney+ brought it back for 2022. The new season was filmed in California at Castello di Amorosa in Calistoga!

The first season was produced by the team behind The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Amazing Race, and Queer Eye, so there was an interesting mix when it came to the dynamic on the show.

In The Quest, heroes must complete challenges that will involve classic fantasy-adventure elements like magic and medieval battles. The cast includes Emily Gateley as Mila, Harry Aspinwall as Dravus, Frederic Winkler as General Kane, and Jarod Lindsey as Ramus.

The “royals” on the show will include Braeden De La Garza as Prince Emmett, Racquel Jean-Louis as Princess Adaline, Kerwin Thompson as King Silas, and Elliott Ross as Prince Cederic.

The actors playing mystical beings will include Mel Mehrabian as Sorceress Tavora, Dane DiLiegro as the Dragior, and three Fates (played by Nandi Chapman, Louise Lagana, and Sajel Oh). You can see Sorceress Tavora in the image shown below!

This season will have eight episodes streaming on Disney+, and the “heroes” on the show will deal with everything from “royals” and “ethereal fates” to “all forms of mystical creatures…and a sorceress intent on destruction and power”. You can watch this fantasy adventure on Disney+ starting on Wednesday, May 11!

If you liked the Disney+ streaming series Disney’s Holiday Magic Quest (which involved four Disney Channel actors completing theme Park challenges and facing off against Disney villains in a theme Park within Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort instead of a fairy tale landscape with medieval castles and mystical beings), then you’ll love this new original series since it combines themes similar to the Holiday Magic Quest!
