Disney World Airport

If you and your family begin and end your Walt Disney World Resort Vacation or Universal Orlando Resort Vacation by flying, chances are you had to pass through the worst airport in the United States.

Orlando International Airport/MCO

According to ABC, Orlando International Airport (MCO) earned the title of worst airport in the country due to the number of delayed flights it accumulated over the course of 2022. Using data from the Bureau of Transportations Statistics, the Family Destinations Guide determined that MCO recorded 108,330 flight delays last year. That is 28.24% of all its 2022 flights and more than any other airport in the country.

It should be noted, however, that the report does not seem to distinguish the length of delays, suggesting that the hardly-noticeable 20-minute delays and potentially debilitating 2-hour delays were listed together in a blanket list. Like other airports in Florida, including Tampa International Airport, MCO also dealt with weather delays thanks to an active hurricane season, capped by the arrival of Hurricane Ian, as well as repercussions of winter storms to the north.

But hopefully, this year will be better for Central Florida’s major airport as the brand new Terminal C continues to improve and open its Brightline Station.

Unofficially known by many as the Disney World Airport, Orlando International Airport offers a plethora of domestic and international flight options that help connect people from all over the world to The Most Magical Place On Earth and the rest of the Theme Park Capital of the World, with frequent flights with Delta Airlines, United Airlines, Southwest Airlines, JetBlue, and Spirit Airlines, to name a few.
