5. Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano

Hollywood Studios is also home to one of Disney World’s greatest Italian comfort food spots as well. Sure there are several notable Italian restaurant distinctions all throughout Walt Disney World Resort and in nearby Disney Springs, but the quaint nostalgic appeal of Mama Melrose’s, right in the heart of a vintage tinsel town-based atmosphere, does double in making the comforts here even more charming. And the casual yet alluring nighttime al fresco patio/vineyard setup, despite being located indoors, only adds to the overall effect. Ultimate Italian food lovers will not be disappointed by the creature comfort classics to be found on the menu here, with traditional home-style favorites and novelty house specialties alike to offer up an enticing balance. There is of course that traditional timeless favorite of Spaghetti and Meatballs, which is arguably the most famous Italian comfort food of all time. There are other pasta specialties here too. Breakfast delivers on all the classics, including southern-associated comforts like Breakfast Hash, Cheese Grits, Eggs Benedict, Biscuits and Sausage Gravy, and the Specialty Country Pork Dish amongst many other offerings. Well-loved novel concepts here even include Chili, Breakfast Pizza, and French Toast-Custard Pudding, to name just a few. And don’t forget the Mickey Mouse Waffles—a Disney breakfast tradition. Disney’s Old Key West Resort is home to another enticing eating establishment known for good old home-cooking classics with a soulful island flare. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily, and offering weekend brunch specials in addition, Olivia’s Café dishes up the works at every meal. Breakfast offers traditional selections with house-specialty touches in originality. Some classic favorites to be enjoyed at that time include pancakes, eggs, waffles, grits, oatmeal, traditional sides, Eggs and Hash, Biscuits and Sausage Gravy, Crab Cake-Eggs Benedict, Banana Bread French Toast, various omelet selections, and so much more. Lunch and Dinner both offer some of the same creature comforts, like Olivia’s original Conch Chowder, Cayo Hueso Shrimp Pasta, Conch Fritters, Crab Cake, Southernmost Buttermilk Chicken, and other specialties. At Lunchtime Olivia’s also dishes up various sandwich selections, like their famous Shrimp Po’ Boy, Fish BLT, Conch Flats Club, Duval Street Burger, and more. Desirable Dinner-exclusive entrées include, but are in no way limited to: Tortuga Seafood Stew, Plantation Key Pork Chops, Grilled New York Strip, Stow-cooked Prime Rib, and Fish of the Day specials. Delightful dessert pairings give any meal at Olivia’s that added touch of comfort, with specialties like the Key Lime Tart, Mascarpone Cheesecake, the Banana Bread Pudding Sundae, Flourless Chocolate Cake, and the Mile Marker Zero (no sugar added) tropical panna cotta.

8. Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory

Another venue known for dishing up soulful comfort cuisine classics is this Mardi Gras-inspired quick service food court located at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort—French Quarter. If you’re a fan of Cajun/Creole fixings then this place has plenty of options for you, available around the clock. From traditional American home-style breakfast fixings to unique Louisiana-style specialties like the Cajun Grit Bowl with Shrimp being just one example, your first meal of the day provides a wide range of options to pick and choose from. Lunch and Dinner provide their own comforts to rejoice in, offering well-loved favorites and resort-exclusive novelties alike. Some of the widely popular southern classics available here include Barbecued Ribs, Blackened Rib Eye, Fried Chicken, and other hits, like Chicken and Waffles, Chicken on a Biscuit, Jambalaya, Gumbo, Crawfish ´Etouffée, and the uniquely concocted Beignet Cheeseburger. Beignets in general are a pretty popular hit here, available throughout the day and also making for a delightful dessert accompaniment.
