9. The Mara (Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge)
Discover the bold and exotic eats of Africa at this quick and casual favorite to both resort guests and visitors alike. From the signature flavorful features that grace each mealtime’s menu to the distinct décor and theming all throughout this eatery, here you’ll experience the same wild essence of the African savanna as patterned in some of the resort’s other more high-end establishments. With their versatile array of both traditional regional cuisine and familiar American classics, this place offers an excellent compromise for those looking to break into the African food scene without sacrificing well-loved creature comforts to fall back on. But in most cases, adventurous diners find these new tastes absolutely tantalizing. At breakfast, for example, you can try a unique Breakfast Flatbread offering or the Bobotie Platter, featuring egg custard with turkey, peppers, and raisins, served with pap and chakalaka. The Breakfast Quinoa with honey and dried fruit also makes for a delicious side. Lunch and dinner provide their own unique concoctions, from hand-carved sandwiches to flatbreads, salads to that day’s Soup of the Moment feature, along with so much more. Two other examples of the distinctive eats you will find here are the Vegetarian Falafel, Hummus and Pita entrée and African Potjie. And don’t forget about dessert and the assorted grab-and-go goods available. Favorites include, but are not limited to the decadent Peanut Butter Brownie, Zebra Cupcakes, Candy Bar Brownies, and even those famed Zebra Domes you love so much at Boma’s sold by the pack! Top off any meal, snack, or dessert with a delightful slushy, coffee, or other specialty beverage.
