Fans are less than impressed with the current state of one of the most popular global Disney Parks: Tokyo Disney Resort.
Maintenance is the name of the game when it comes to the attractions and rides at the Disney Parks. This is entirely the reason why many favorite attractions often have to shut shop temporarily for refurbishment; making sure that a fan’s favorite thrill ride is in tip-top shape is a necessary precaution.
However, it’s not just about safety. It’s also about the immersive experience. One of the main things that Disney prides itself on is giving fans an immersive Disney experience to enjoy while at the parks—be that Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, or any of the global Disney Parks like Disneyland Paris, Tokyo Disney Resort, Hong Kong Disneyland or Shanghai Disneyland.
Unfortunately, not every Disney theme park is updated as frequently as the domestic Walt Disney World and Disneyland, and this means that sometimes, a global Disney Park can be quite lackluster.
Recently, a fan took to X to share that Tokyo Disneyland’s Fantasyland looked quite “outdated” while commenting on a photo of Mt. Prometheus in Tokyo DisneySea erupting.
Damn TDLs fantasyland is really outdated looking https://t.co/cEwHnqyrhy

Another fan took the time to point out that “Their Tomorrowland is even worse.”
However, for this exact reason, Tomorrowland is finally getting a much-needed upgrade with new Space Mountain updates and a complete revamp of the area. This redone land is set to make its debut in 2027.
What’s interesting, though, is that while Tokyo Disney Resort and Disneyland Paris—the global parks—are slowly getting their due TLC, some domestic fans appear to be frustrated by it.
Another fan took to X to comment, “The rumors about the Mandalorian coaster reached the US, be ready for some US Disney fans saying “overseas Disney parks get all new stuff and we get nothing for the US parks” when Disneyland Park (Paris) last expansion was actually in 1995, and the last new attraction was in 2006.”
If they’re complaining about the Asian Parks that aren’t HKDL then they are either complaining about
a. The one park that Disney does not own.
b. The park that has seen 2 new lands since it opened in 2016. (WDW has seen 3 since then).

Of course, some fans jumped to US fans’ defense, explaining that the complaint about new attractions was directed at the Asian Disney Parks, namely Shanghai Disneyland and Tokyo Disney Resort.
However, another fan clarified that Tokyo Disney Resort isn’t actually wholly owned by Disney, and Shanghai Disneyland has seen only two new lands since it opened in 2016.
This said, whether its fair or not that Tokyo Disney Resort is getting some form of an update—even if it’s not for Fantasyland—many would agree these changes couldn’t come a day too soon.
