It’s been more than five months since Hamas terrorists invaded Israel, and Israel responded by invading the Gaza Strip. In that time, more than 30,000 Palestinians and 1,400 Israelis, most of them civilians, have been killed.
The Walt Disney Company has found itself in the middle of this conflict. After donating $1 millionĀ to the Magen David Adom, an affiliate of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and another $1 million to nonprofit agencies working in the area to protect children, it appeared that Disney had found some middle ground.

But, like many other people who have tried to find some middle ground in this conflict,Ā Disney ended up angering those who are pro-Palestinian for not offering direct aid to those children suffering in Gaza. A groundswell started online, calling for a boycott of Disney, with one user telling his followers to “pirate all of Disney’s movies so not a penny makes it to the studio.”
Now, pro-Palestinian voices on social media are calling for a boycott of Disney Plus and encouraging followers to pirate Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour Taylor’s Version documentary, which will be released this week.
Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that Disney Plus had purchased the rights to Taylor Swift’s The Eras TourĀ for a reported $75 million in February. It was a part of Iger’s big announcements during an earnings call and his attempt to stave off activist investor Nelson Peltz.

The Taylor Swift concert film will be one of the biggest premieres in the history of Disney Plus. Pro-Palestinian voices are using this to encourage their followers to pirate the movie and boycott rather than give money to the Walt Disney Company.
Why the anger at the Walt Disney Company? The Pro-Palestinian groups believe that Disney’s $2 million donation went to help support Israel’s bombing campaign in the Gaza Strip and genocide rather than to humanitarian aid. These groups have waged a social media campaign against Disney and other large corporations like Starbucks and McDonald’s.
They also appeal directly to Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce, and her loyal fans, The Swifties, to avoid giving their money to Disney, instead offering them sites to download the video for free.

Despite their pleas to boycott The Eras Tour concert film, Disney Plus still expects huge numbers of viewers on March 14 when it premieres.
Despite pleas from nations around the world, the Israel-Hamas war continues with no clear end in sight. And as it continues, more civilians will suffer.
