Disney Ride Ruined After Clumsy Guest Causes Malfunction

One thing you can always count on at Disney theme parks is that rides and attractions occasionally break down. Over the years, increases in technology have let Walt Disney Imagineering offer some stunning experiences. However, this has also led to rides that are way more sensitive, shutting down at the smallest hiccup.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is home to one of the worst offenders with Rise of the Resistance, but another attraction also has seen its share of shutdowns.

A recent incident involving a guest on Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway in Mickey’s Toontown at Disneyland Resort caused a temporary problem that shut down the entire attraction.

Toontown at Disneyland Resort in California has recently undergone an exciting transformation, bringing a fresh dose of magic to this beloved corner of Disneyland Park. This Reimagined experience features the park’s newest ride, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, a popular attraction previously found at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World.

Mickey’s Toontown retains its whimsical charm, with iconic landmarks such as Mickey’s House and Minnie’s House, where visitors can interact with their favorite Disney characters. The reimagined area now includes an enhanced section outside of Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin and a vibrant Centoonial Park, offering families even more opportunities for play and exploration.

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway has been popular at Walt Disney World Resort’s Hollywood Studios theme park in Florida since its 2020 debut. It has arguably had the same success since opening at Disneyland in California this year.

This ride is unique as it’s the first Disney attraction centered around Mickey Mouse. It draws inspiration from the animated Mickey Mouse shorts broadcasted on the Disney Channel, utilizing the same animation style.

The opening of this attraction at the California park led to the replacement of the former Mickey’s Toontown Railroad located at the el CapiTOON theater.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway seamlessly blends animatronic characters with projection mapping to narrate its story. While the ride typically operates without a hitch, it’s sensitive due to its trackless design. Even minor disruptions can result in a complete shutdown. A recent incident occurred when a guest dropped an item on Daisy’s dance floor, leading to an unexpected temporary closure.

Trouble in Toontown at Disneyland Resort

During the portion of the ride where Daisy Duck leads you in a dance routine, one guest got a little too into the rhythm. Her conga music causes the attraction’s vehicles to rock and wiggle.

This movement reportedly caused one guest to drop their phone onto the dance floor. Immediately, the whole ride malfunctioned, coming to a halt. The Disney Scoopy Guy (@DisneyScoopGuy) on Twitter/X uploaded footage of the sudden stop.

You can hear in the video that the phone must have hit something when it fell because the vehicle “jolted.” Someone in the background seems to claim the phone got run over. An automated announcement warns guests to remain seated while the incident is investigated.

Fans replied to the post, stating that issues like this have happened a lot lately. Furthermore, trackless rides have an annoying and long reset time when things break down.
