In an unexpected twist during this year’s holiday season, SeaWorld Orlando has incorporated a recognizable Star Wars character into its Christmas celebrations—a surprising choice given that Star Wars is owned by The Walt Disney Company, one of SeaWorld’s primary competitors in the Central Florida theme park market.
Holiday Programming at SeaWorld Orlando
SeaWorld Orlando has transformed into a winter wonderland for its 2025 Christmas Celebration, offering visitors an extensive lineup of seasonal entertainment options. The park’s holiday roster includes the spectacular Holiday Reflections: Fireworks Finale, the faith-based O Wondrous Night nativity performance, and the family-friendly Winter Wonderland On Ice skating show. Younger visitors can enjoy Elmo’s Christmas Wish Show, while the entire family can experience the Sea of Trees light display and the festive Sesame Street Christmas Parade.

Throughout the park, themed animal encounters have been reimagined with holiday touches, and character meet-and-greets feature Santa Claus, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and various Sesame Street favorites in seasonal attire. This year’s Christmas offerings also include a retro-themed tree trail designed to transport guests back through decades of holiday memories. The walkthrough experience showcases Christmas trees decorated with nostalgic items representing different eras of American pop culture.
Luke Skywalker Joins SeaWorld’s Retro Display

Within this nostalgic Christmas tree collection, one decoration stands out for its connection to SeaWorld’s biggest competitor in Orlando. A Luke Skywalker action figure—representing one of the most iconic characters from the Star Wars franchise—has been incorporated into one of the retro-themed displays.

The Context Behind the Crossover
The Luke Skywalker figure’s presence at SeaWorld doesn’t represent any coordinated business relationship between the marine park and the Mouse House. Instead, the action figure serves as an artifact from 1980s popular culture, placed alongside other period-appropriate items, including cardboard cutouts of vintage video game consoles from that same era.

The relationship between Disney and SeaWorld remains competitive in terms of theme park attractions and visitor experiences. The two companies have never partnered on rides, shows, or entertainment offerings, each maintaining its distinct identity within the crowded Central Florida market. However, both organizations share a commitment to wildlife conservation and environmental protection, occasionally working together on initiatives focused on animal welfare and habitat preservation.
