It’s been a rocky road for She-Hulk. Attorney at Law premiered in 2022, promising irreverence and fun, but the show’s cringe humor, awkward dialogue, and overreaching social commentary turned off even some of the most dedicated Marvel fans.
Season 2 was canceled, with Tatiana Maslany noting the production “blew” the budget.
Marvel’s broader streak of stumbles isn’t limited to Walters’ misadventure. Disney+ series and theatrical films alike have faced criticism for years now, signaling a franchise that’s struggling to balance audience expectations with creative ambition.

Amidst the slump, a glimmer of undead hope emerges. Marvel Zombies, an animated follow-up to What If…?, takes the MCU in a macabre new direction. Returning with the same distinctive animation style, it expands on the iconic “What If… Zombies?!” episode.
The lineup is star-studded: Wanda Maximoff/Red Queen (Elizabeth Olsen), Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani), Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian (David Harbour), John Walker/U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), Scott Lang/Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Blade Knight (Todd Williams), Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Hudson Thames), and Thor (Greg Furman). Despite no official confirmation, or even any rumors, She-Hulk could appear in the new miniseries. Maslany isn’t on the cast list, and trailers hint at nothing, yet the concept fits the series’ willingness to twist familiar characters in shocking ways.
An angry, zombified version of She-Hulk would likely be a hit with fans.
With the live-action series all but dead—Maslany’s recent public controversies over boycotting Disney+ may have sealed her fate—this animated take might be the only avenue to revisit Jennifer Walters herself. If not now, then in a future follow-up season.
Marvel Zombies is scheduled to be released on Disney+ on September 24, 2025, and will consist of four episodes. It will be part of Phase Six of the MCU.
