There are nearly 400 dining spots that offer everything from churros and Mickey pretzels to perfectly cooked steaks, cheesy, delicious pizza, sushi, Mexican, and so much more. One of the most difficult parts of planning your Walt Disney World Resort getaway can be narrowing down all the places you want to eat! Disney World’s restaurants are all winners, and have something for nearly every palate and every budget.

While there are some restaurants that are iconic, Disney is always looking to bring something new and exciting to its millions of visitors. On May 8, Disney announced that a brand-new restaurant is coming to the foodie center of the Resort — EPCOT! The new restaurant is called Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya and will feature fresh sushi and other classic Japanese dishes.

Disney Eats shared more on this incredible new restaurant:

Here, you’ll be able to experience the essence of Japan’s seasonal festivals, where each month brings a new celebration to your table. From hanging tanzaku to celebrate Tanabata in July to savoring moon-viewing dumplings in September, a cultural representative from Japan will guide you through each unique festival experience, one bite at a time. The atmosphere also embraces the festivals of Japan, with the atmosphere featuring beautiful, hand painted artwork and lanterns highlighting some of the natural wonders that Japan offers as well. Each and every visit is designed to create unforgettable memories that capture the spirit of Japan’s vibrant seasonal festivities.

In addition to a full menu filled with mouthwatering Japanese delights like sushi and teppan items, there will be an open sushi bar and grill. Located on the second floor of the Japan pavilion, Shiki-Sai offers stunning views of EPCOT, the World Showcase Lagoon, and, of course, fireworks!

One of the best parts of Shiki Sai will be that the sushi will be made right in front of diners sitting at the sushi bar. The sushi bar will have several signature dishes, including the Kobore Sushi, Tokyo Negi Roll, Funamori, and the Monster Roll. The Kobore Roll will feature negi toro and nakaochi tuna elegantly paired with salmon roe and green onion. Kobore literally translates to “overflowing”, and this new sushi roll will certainly be overflowing with flavor!

The Tokyo Negi Roll will be made with green onion tempura rolled with tuna tataki and topped with jalapeño aïoli, shredded carrot, and sliced jalapeño. Funamori will be several different kinds of sushi and sashimi served on a boat. Great for a crowd!

At this time, we don’t know when Shiki Sai: Sushi Izakaya will open, but we do know that it will be sometime this summer! According to Disney, it will be located on the second floor of the Japan Pavilion. Tokyo Dining, which is located in the same space, is currently closed for refurbishment. The Walt Disney World Resort website says that it will remain closed until this summer. Disney has not confirmed, but it is possible that Shiki Sai will be replacing Tokyo Dining in the Disney Park.
