Six Flags America Cancels Fright Fest for 2025 Amid Park’s Permanent Closure

Six Flags America in Bowie, Maryland, has officially announced the cancellation of its popular Fright Fest event for 2025, signaling the end of an era for the park. This decision aligns with the company’s broader plans to close the park permanently, with last year’s Fright Fest marking the final celebration of the spooky season at the iconic location.

A Final Farewell to Fright Fest

In response to the cancellation, Six Flags is offering annual passholders a free ticket to experience Fright Fest at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey. While the offer aims to give guests a chance to still enjoy the event, it has been met with mixed reactions. Many fans have voiced dissatisfaction with the three-hour drive required to reach the New Jersey park, questioning the practicality and fairness of the alternative. Social media has been abuzz with comments, with many fans expressing frustration over the long travel time, especially given the closure of the nearby park.

A Shift in Focus for Six Flags America’s Last Season

Despite the cancellation of Fright Fest, Six Flags America is not leaving fans without a fall experience. For its final season, the park will shift its focus to family-friendly activities. A Six Flags representative explained:

“With a focus on daytime fun, we'll offer the family-friendly fall entertainment and activities of Kids Boo Fest beginning September 13, coupled with your favorite thrill rides. This means our Spooky Fright Fest event will not return this fall.”

While Fright Fest is not part of this final season, the park aims to provide fun and memorable experiences for guests of all ages as it prepares to close its doors. Though the specific details of these activities have not yet been fully disclosed, the emphasis will be on creating enjoyable moments for the whole family to cherish before the park’s permanent closure.

The End of an Icon for the Mid-Atlantic

The closure of Six Flags America marks the end of a beloved chapter for the Bowie community and the broader Mid-Atlantic region. The park has been a cornerstone of local entertainment for many years, offering a mix of thrilling rides, seasonal events, and family-oriented fun. Its departure leaves a significant void for many fans who have spent countless days at the park over the years.

As the final season unfolds, guests are encouraged to make the most of the remaining opportunities to visit, with the chance to create lasting memories before the park closes for good. Whether it's the final rides or the last Halloween celebrations, Six Flags America’s closure is set to mark the end of a local institution.
