For more than a decade, young actress Skai Jackson was a big part of the Disney family. Jackson first appeared on the Disney Channel hit show, Jessie, which also starred Debbie Ryan. She then reprised the role of Zuri Ross in the popular spinoff show, Bunk’d. Skai would continue to reprise her character Zuri in K.C. Undercover Good Luck Charlie, Austin & Ally, and Disney Monstober. Jackson was also the voice of Gloria Grant in Marvel Rising: Initiation, and a singing bust in Muppets Haunted Mansion.
Jackson’s name may not be known to every Disney fan, but lately, she has found herself dominating a lot of headlines. Recently, Jackson went on TikTok and told fans that, if they donated $5, they would be entered into a contest to win a new MacBook Pro laptop. People were shocked that the actress was asking young fans to send her money, so she could buy a laptop to give to someone.
People immediately took to social media to call Jackson out for the ridiculous giveaway.
Lmaooo so she doing a giveaway but she need the people to pay for a raffle to go towards the prize that she wants to giveaway. 😭😭😭😭. Skai is a sick one.

Many fans were annoyed with the fact that she was calling it a giveaway, while telling people they had to pay to enter it.

Jackson did not like the allegations being levied against her and quickly took to TikTok to defend herself. However, that went over about as well as her original giveaway video. Jackson said that people were being ridiculous in calling her out about the giveaway.
It is not that serious for a damn $5. It is called a raffle. I don’t know if you guys have been to school before, but I know I’ve been to school, and we used to have raffles all the time. You might put in $5, $2, whatever, and you get a prize…The money goes towards the prize, and then, like I said, if there’s anything left over, I’m doing a second giveaway soon.
I do not need money. Me personally, I do not need money. And I’m not saying this in a bragging way, or anything like that, or in a mean way. I’m just letting you guys know I do not personally need money. Like, I’m very fine in my life. I don’t need money.

That only further fueled people’s anger. Typically, when a celebrity does a giveaway, they buy the product with their own money. Then, the money that people pay to enter is given to some kind of charity. It’s almost unheard of that a celebrity would ask fans to donate money, so they can pay for the item they are giving away.

She claims she doesn’t need the money, so then why is she charging for entry? This not weird to yall?

Jackson has not said anything more on the controversial giveaway, despite the continued backlash.
