Before those 70th anniversary festivities kick off at Disneyland Resort, Disney California Adventure Park will host its much-loved Food & Wine Festival. Running from February 28 through April 21, this annual event brings an array of food marketplaces, culinary showcases, and specialty beverage offerings to the park.

But that’s not all. Guests will also see a nostalgic change at one of the park’s most beloved attractions. Soarin’ Around the World will temporarily give way to its predecessor, Soarin’ Over California, offering fans a chance to relive the original experience during the festival.

“Soarin’ Around the World transforms into Soarin’ Over California as part of the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival—February 28 through April 21, 2025,” states the official Disneyland Resort website. “Please check back for updates.”

Originally debuting in 2001, Soarin’ Over California was a defining attraction at Disney California Adventure before being replaced by Soarin’ Around the World in June 2016 at the Grizzly Peak area of the park. For those eager to revisit the classic version, here’s what awaits:

The adventure takes off as mist clears over the Golden Gate Bridge, unveiling breathtaking views of California’s diverse landscapes. Guests will soar over iconic locations, including Yosemite National Park, Napa Valley, Lake Tahoe, Palm Springs, San Diego harbor, Malibu at dusk, and the shimmering lights of downtown Los Angeles, before making a grand return with a flight over Disneyland Park.

With Soarin’ Over California’s return set for February 28, the last chance to experience Soarin’ Around the World will be February 27. Fans wanting to enjoy the international version should make sure to visit before the temporary switch.

While Disneyland Resort isn’t undergoing changes on the same scale as Walt Disney World, the park is far from standing still. With the ambitious DisneylandForward project, the introduction of the Avatar franchise, and the continued expansion of Avengers Campus, exciting transformations are in store for Disney’s first theme park resort over the next decade.

As part of this evolution, Disneyland Resort has a new president at the helm—Thomas Mazloum, who took over following Ken Potrock’s shift to Major Events Integration for The Walt Disney Company. But before fans look too far ahead, all eyes will be on Disneyland’s highly anticipated 70th anniversary celebrations, beginning May 16, 2025.

Thomas Hitchen

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his favorite TV show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer except when it's One Tree Hill. He loves sandy beach walks, forest hikes, and foodie days out in the Big City. Thomas lives in England, UK, with his fiancée, baby, and their dog, a Border Collie called Luna.
