Stroller Pirates Strike at Disney World- Guest’s Valuables Lost

Magic Kingdom Theft

The Walt Disney World Resort can be The Most Magical Place On Earth. But if Guests are not careful, their experience can be anything but magical, as one unfortunate family recently found out.

First, it should be noted that the Walt Disney World Resort constantly reminds Guests to keep personal items with them at all times. Its Theme Parks offer lockers to store anything. Souvenirs bought inside can be transported to and held at Guest Relations for Guests to pick up at the end of the day. Disney World also prides itself on having strong security and vigilant Cast Members. However, eyes–and ears–can’t be everywhere.

According to the Twitter account @DisneyAdult, one poor Guest learned the hard way not to leave valuable items like phones and wallets in a stroller.

A screenshot of another tweet was shared that read,

“What do I do if my wallet and phone are stolen while at Magic Kingdom? Both went missing from my stroller.”

To which the admin of the Twitter account shared former-Cast Member wisdom:

“STROLLERS AREN’T LOCKERS”

While this reaction can be viewed by many as insensitive, the sentiments ring true and serve as a harsh reminder for families visiting any crowded place filled with scores of strangers from all over the world. It is one thing to misplace an item–like, to leave one’s sunglasses at Cosmic Ray’s or leave a hat at Gaston’s Tavern–but there is very little Cast Members can do when a cell phone or a wallet is outright stolen. While thieves and all other lawbreakers will be punished both by Disney World and the assigned Sheriff’s department, it is, of course, first a matter of finding and apprehending them.

There is no other context offered for this situation. Still, one could speculate it involved the temptation to leave a purse, backpack, or a loose phone and wallet in the stroller unattended or under the not-so-watchful eye of a younger child. But even so, heavily congested areas like Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, or even as Guests get situated in down Main Street, U.S.A., and in front of Cinderella Castle for the nighttime spectacular, swipes happen in the blink of an eye.

We at Disney Fanatic recommend that all Guests keep their valuables–especially their cell phones and wallets–on their person at all times, be it in their pockets or a secured purse or handbag. If you see any illicit activity like theft, please don’t hesitate to report it to the nearest Cast Member or Security Guard.

Magic Kingdom Park has several designated stroller parking areas, that include alongside Prince Charming Regal Carrousel to give parents easy access to area rides from Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Princess Fairytale Hall to Peter Pan‘s Flight and “it’s a small world.” There is also stroller parking outside the entrance to The Journey of The Little Mermaid, the Haunted Mansion, Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin, and Jungle Cruise, as well as in between Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad just to name a few. Guests can also find stroller parking in other areas of Liberty Square, Adventureland, and Main Street, U.S.A.
